We registered. Our families kept asking us to. Our engagment party was small, Bridal Party, immediate family and a few close Aunts Uncles cousins and friends - about 45 people.
No registry cards were included with the invites and our mothers only told people where we were registered if they asked.
I've read that if you aren't ready to pick things out for your registry like your china pattern and so on that you should register for photo frames, vases, decor and keepsake kinda stuff.

i would regestier but don't put it on the invites... if someone ask what you would like, then you can tell them you are registered here and there
I agree too...A lot of people were asking us..So we did. but it is not necessary and no you shouldn't put it in the invites

I think you should because most people will want to buy you a congratulations gift.

Re: registering for engagement party poll
I didn't have an e-party but registered soon after we got engaged and gifts just started rolling in and I didn't say a word to anyone... Lots of people just look on theweddingchannel or theknot....

Re: registering for engagement party poll
We decided to register tomorrow at fortunoff's only! Our e-party, about 70 people, is next month. Our family has been hounding us for a registry so they can start shopping. We're going to register for some kitchen basics and decorative items. That way, we can add to it later on when we are more sure of what we want. We'll probably register at bed, bath and beyond when bridal shower time is approaching but for now the family wants to get us gifts that we want. plus, when we went to a friend's e-party last year, it was so hard to randomly choose a gift. Thanks for all the advice...it is always nice to hear both sides of an issue

Agreed! We registered shortly after we got engaged even though we did not have a party. I personally like to send a congrats gift to people and I like it to be something they want/need.
Definitely. I don't think there's anything wrong with registering before the engagement party, a lot of guests find it easier, but I think it's in poor taste to include that info with the invitation. If someone wants to know they'll either go to weddingchannel.com or ask.

Re: registering for engagement party poll
KL_ There's some kind of event for new couples at forunoff this sunday or next or something...There's a post on it somewhere. I'd definitely check it out b/c I heard once you're registered, you cant participate in the event and get the goodies!

Re: registering for engagement party poll
i said no... i wouldnt want everyone buying off the registry and there being little left for the shower.... or you could make up a small registry just for if people ask you or your parents, but i wouldnt send the information out on the invitation..

Re: registering for engagement party poll
I'm definitely not putting our registry info on the invites. It will only be if they ask. we're going to try and keep the registry pretty small, plus we both live at home and will have tons to add later on because we need EVERYTHING
