I shall be doing the same. Some of the department stores also run sales. Sometimes they (stores or the manufacturer) offer a bonus when the set is purchased such as a pasta pot and insert. Check this out when you register.

Re: Registering Question- set or individual?
FH and I both had nice cookware from living on our own, so we only registered for completer pieces. Since we figured that we weren't asking for expensive cookware, we picked nicer pieces, like a Calphalon roasting pan.Basically, there are no rules. Register for the things that you want and need!

Re: Registering Question- set or individual?
I've heard it's better to register for the pieces invidividually because sometimes with the sets, the manufacturer includes items that might not be too useful. I'm not sure if this is true, but it's what I've heard.I think we might go individually since we want stainless steel but a non-stick frying pan and some mnfrs don't offer this in their sets.

Re: Registering Question- set or individual?
We registered for pieces. I don't know anyone who would have bought the set for $449 and I dont think anyone would have 'buddied up' on the purchase.

Re: Registering Question- set or individual?
We registered for the set. Afterwards I had second thoughts b/c I didn't think anyone would spend that much for a single gift, so I went online to change it but it had already been bought!!! YAAAYYYYso I would leave it, people are generous and like to give practical but 'lasting' gifts.
