My FH and I started registering a couple of months ago. We went to Fortunoff yesterday to finish. The whole process can be so frustrating. We still have to go back, because we could not decide on some things.
Here is my question. When you registered for Formal Dinnerware did you try to stay within a certain price range.
My dilemma is this...the set that I love is $155.00 for a 5 piece place setting. Are my guests going to think that I am out of my mind? Am I asking for to much? Can you please share the cost of your formal and casual dinnerware?

I don't think that is too much at all. Fortunoff has sales all the time. My formal dinnerware is $110 per place setting and right now they are having a special of buy one place setting get the second at 50% off. My everydayware was really cheap. I picked out some plain white that was also on special. It was $19.99 per box (4 place settings) and buy one get one free. I bought four boxes (16 place settings) for $40!!!!! I lucked out on that.

first, i suggest you looking online to add stuff to your registry, since its quick and gets your list filled.
as for the plates, if you like the pattern you can pick it, but how much do you think the guests will spend on you? and are you prepared to buy it yourself if you dont get all the settings? If you get 6 settings are you willing to spend $930 to get the other six(many people get 12) If you're wiling then get it, otherwise I think youd be more likely to get settings that are around $75 a setting, but maybe you have alot of rich guests
im curious which setting are you looking at thats 155?

What kind of fancy dinnerware is it? Is it china? The china I got is about $180 so I dont think yours is expensive. Just think its something you will have forever!

That is something that I thought about. If I do not receive all the settings, will I actually go back and purchase the rest? I am still giving that some thought. The setting is by Calvin Klein. It is white and it is triimed with silver. It is on Fortunoffs website.

Can someone give me a crash course in how to post pictures or how to create a link?
You should register for what you want regardless of the price. Normally someone close to you or groups of people will chip in to buy your formal sets anyway.

Get what you love. Otherwise you will have china for ever that you dont love. And they don't have to buy it. If its too expensive for them they can choose something else off the registry.

i think as long as you register for things in different price ranges it is fin e- just b/c its on the registry doesn't mewan you get it but you are also surprised by what some people will get you..(at least i have heard) make sure you have some less expensive things on there too and you will be fine!

agree with pschica. as long as you have a price range of gifts your fine. my aunt went to a shower, she didnt know the girl that well and bought her the cheapest thing on her registry(salad tongs for $60)... some of my sisters best friends gave gifts around $25 at her shower.. I like the pattern you picked, and I almost registerd it myself but for company only a few times a year Id rather get everything else for the $1800 it costs... although there was a girl on here who 1 family member bought all her china
