How many girls already have registries? I'm afraid it's too early and everything I want will be old and not in stock by the time I get married but my mom says I should register. She wants to buy all of my china, like she did for my sister, and she bought it piece by piece with 20% off coupons from BB&B.
Please tell me if you've registered yet, and if not when you're planning on registering. Thanks!

Re: Registries... too early?
I am going to register a year before...I would love to registers now just for fun though....so I can dream about some of the things I might get...this sounds so ridiculous but my FH and really want a nice new vacuum. We could just buy one but we just dont want to spend the money on such a thing.... I am going to be wishing until then.

Re: Registries... too early?
we registered bc people asked us to for the e-party. i think it'll prob be outdated by the time the shower rolls around. if ur mom wants to buy you china, just register for a pattern and save the other stuff for later on. the cool thing is that people are already talking about using my registry for christmas, which means i'll get some stuff early so it might be worth it if you like that idea.

Re: Registries... too early?
Hey ladies 08er here!! FH and I registered really early like last december/january (@ Fortunoff) and our wedding is in June.....and SOOOO MANY of the things we reigstered for were discontinued. We had to go back over the summer and literally re-register!!! don't get me wrong it was fun but there were a lot of things we really wanted and either our family or us bought some of the things that were discontinued. i would say to try to avoid this as much as possbile by registering about 1 year or less before.

i am registering now - 16 months before - a lot of the stuff i want is kitchenaid and stuff so they wont get discontinued - i try to get everything done well in advance - i guess that's just me!

Re: Registries... too early?
You can always update the registries.... I have been just updating mine if something new comes out or if they no longer have an item....go for it. it is making it easy when people ask me what I want for xmas...I just tell them to get something off my registry.

Re: Registries... too early?
i think it's a little too early if you're not having an engagement party. i wouldn't do it more than 1 year in advance. especially because certain stores stock their items by season (crate & barrel) and most stuff gets discontinued.
i plan on doing it in august, so about 10 months before the wedding.

Re: Registries... too early?
FMIL thinks we should register after the holidays... because our E party is March 8th... but im like thinking to myself... isn't that like tooo soon.. because our E party is about a year away... i don't know if I should register now for the E PARTY or just let people 'wing it' and then register closer to the actual event... for my shower....

Re: Registries... too early?
I think I am going to hold off until this Spring. We are not having an engagement party and I want to spread the fun stuff out!
Since half of the people will be coming from the South I will need to register for a ton of things since they give gifts-not money-at the wedding.
Maybe I will register in stages, like after my shower see what I get and register for some more things. I don't want FH's peeps picking out their own gifts!!!
