So I went to Fortunoff's today with FH- let me tell you- WHAT an EXPERIENCE! At first I was all excited. I was walking around in circles with my scanner. I went to the formal china section. I couldn't figure out what I wanted! I went back and forth for like an HOUR. Finally I just scanned this Waterford one. FH looks at the print out of our registry and was like WHAT THE HELL ARE WE GOING TO DO WITH OVER 2 GRANDS WORTH OF CHINA?????? I told him we don't have to buy it. He didn't get the concept of other people buying this for us. But he still doesn't get the whole concept of expensive plates. So, I walked out of there and went home and saw the china online and hated it. So, I deleted it all off my registry. I looked online and now narrowed down to these. I want something simplistic and classy. FH says he never wants to go with me to look at plates ever!
I have to tell you... my sister registered for an extremely similar pattern at BB&B for about $40 a setting... I think it was Mikasa. You should look into it if you want a simple silver band!

Really? I'll have to check it out!!!!! These plates are quite pricey- I wonder if I will get all the quantities I need. Maybe with a cheaper set, they will complete. Thanks for your suggestion- I am going to BBB tomorrow.

Let me check her registry for the name... I think it was like Camelot of something

definitly check out BB&B. i registered at macys for my china, and the EXACT set, was $40 cheaper per place setting. I actually found an even nicer set I like that turned out to be like $70 a setting.. which was awesome.

Re: Registry
wow, $40 a setting is great!
we registered for lenox china (venetian lace) because I fell in love with the lace accent plates and they were very young and modern. There are all kinds of specials that run so people end up getting free soup bowls or $50 gift cards etc when they buy things from your set. We actually have most of our china purchased already (12 place settings + everything except the small multipurpose bowls that BBB didn't carry and are on our Macy's registry, and one open vegetable bowl)
I loved the venetian lace. It is very pretty! I think I am going with the first one because there are tons of great stuff to go with it. Different platters, bowls and all that good stuff. And, the prices are not ridiculous either. The price per set is 89- a little high but better than the Waterford ones! I am still going to check the BBB ones and Macys to see what would be best.
