How far in advance of your wedding date did you create your registry? Not sure when we should do it.

I have a feeling my bridal shower is in March. I'm planning on doing it in October before the holidays come around and have to deal w/over crowded stores.

So we did ours about a month or so after we got engaged because people wanted to get us an engagement gift. I have been slowly adding to it since. Have what you want on it finalized before your shower invites go out! I know my mother just sent out the shower invites this past week and 10 items were already purchased. People are quick! And now I will be registry stalking on a regular.... not good ha

I read 6-8 months before. My wedding is in July so I think we are going to do it either before or after the holidays.

Another question: besides bed, bath, and beyond, where are you registering?

My wedding is also in July...I was thinking before the holidays to avoid crowds, although a lot of home collections introduce new products in Jan/Feb, so I might update it then.
I also thought it would be good in case people want to be extra nice and buy a registry gift for a Xmas gift;)

I'm thinking either Bloomingdale's and/or William Sonoma, to answer the question above.

I've heard 6-8 months before. You don't wanna do it too early because things get discontinued and then you have to constantly be adding removing things.

I'll definitely be registering at macys (they run great specials for registries) and maybe BB&B

I did it way far in advance - but because people wanted to buy us engagement presents off of the registry. I had to update some things, but most stuff was ok (didn't become discontinued)

Yeah, I made mine more than a year in advance because people were asking for our engagement party.

Thanks ladies. I really wasn't sure! We are definitely planning on registering at BBB and probably Macy's for the luggage. But, I haven't even begun looking at stuff. I am thinking FH will really like this wedding errand!

FH loved this part of the wedding planning. He keeps looking to see if anyone bought the margarita maker and waffler maker HE registered for. lol

We did ours way in advance in case of engagement gifts. (Which we have yet to receive - LOL)

I think you can do it whenever you want. It's easy to maintain online or pop back into the store.

I did mine very early on, just beware you will have to update it consistently (at least at Macy's) because they get rid of some of the products and you need to add the new version of it

I registered in Dec/Jan. I kept changing things every few weeks, but people kept asking me where I was registered because they wanted to buy us engagement gifts.
