Registry Lesson

Registry Lesson

Well last night i went to macys in massap. mall and i was looking at the stuff I had registered for. So i looked at all the items they had on my registry (that they actually sold there) and man was it a complete awakening.

I HATE-HATE my dishes, toasting flutes, flatware that i picked at BBB & maycs. I had visited certain things since i live right near a BBB and thought they looked and felt great. Man was I wrong. I fell in love with plates that are a bit more expensive but well worth it (Noritake Colorwave). New flatware Avalon set is just way better and much more like me and fh then the other set.

I have also changed my knives which i did insist would be global since i wanted prof. grade knives ($400 fo six knives no chef knife and no shears) and those are the best to wusthof since they were less expensive but still chef grade quality ( $400.00 for 10 w/ shears). Added my steak knives which i love.

My mom keeps drilling in my head no one spends more then $40 at a shower except for like my sister in laws and my her (my mother) so i am picking things that are less expensive but after looking at stuff its crap and i don't want it. SO LESSON LEARNED don't necc. pick out cheaper items just so you get a gift (i am sure people who's family spends tons of money on them do not have to fear) if they can't afford it they will give you a gift cert to purchased to the items you need. I rather get what i want then get crap

I hope that helps

here is now what i picked.... for dishes & flatware and much happier! (the squared dishes i just picked large platers to served on since it would have a nicer contrast on a table)

I LOVE the square plates, they're so nice. Yeah i agree, save the less expensive things for other items...but plates, pots, silverware, glasses and stuff like that its better to pick a better quality...then put a bunch of other stuff that are less expensive

I love the dishes. I havent registered for those things yet. I want the best 'we' can get. We dont need the best of the best but I want good quality. a lot of times too, people dont get shower gifts alone, they go in on gifts together. If each person only spends about $50, and a few buy together, then you can get what you want.

If they want to spend the 40 they can buy you gift cards and then you can put them all together to buy the things you want!

Re: Registry Lesson

i wish fh was into anything with the registry. he goes pick what you want i don't really care as long as its not 'fruity' hahaha.

i also purchased a brand new watch last night and spent the most money ever on a watch ( i usually buy a $20 watch) i got it home and it has scratches on teh face and a white dot on it. I have to go back to macys later and figure out what they can do with it.

I did the same thing! I went to Macy's to register (changing from Fortunoff's) and saw my China and realized I didn't love it. I'm changing it to something else and it happens to be $10 cheaper per set.

dont worry about that at all...people who are not planning to spend alot just wont look at the expensive items, just bc you have expensive things on your registry doesn't mean ppl need to buy it for you or feel obligated...Those who are planning on spending more on you will look at that. Make sure just to have alot of less expensive items on your registry too...BTW its usually parents or very close family member who buys the china and all that, or alot of times the bp will chip in and buy you the china...Otherwise the other guests know this and know its not expected of them and wont even consider it, dont worry
