Registry Notification Etiquette

Original post by aprlflwr

Okay, this may be a precedented discussion on LIW, but how are you notifying people of where you and FH have registered? I recently read in a mag that it is 'tacky' to include registry info in the wedding invite. I only wonder because I know in any other state, a [registry] gift is customary and I am inviting a lot of OOT guests.

First, we made up a wedding website via LIW and I listed our registries on there.

Then, when my mom sent out the shower invites she listed them on there.

People will ask, so it's also by word of mouth. I did the website thing and then sent out STDs that listed the address, so guests could see where we were registered and everything else!!

Exactly what we did. Well, we planned on that, but forgot to put the info in the shower invites. So I guess it was just word of mouth and website.

It's definitely supposed to be word of mouth by etiquette standards. I had no shower and my MIL told me point blank that she would NOT tell people where we registered, so after receiving an invitation to another wedding with the registry info. inside of it, I made little cards and put them in the invites. Everyone loved them.

The registry info should only be spread through word of mouth or they should be included in your shower invites
