Okay, this may be a precedented discussion on LIW, but how are you notifying people of where you and FH have registered? I recently read in a mag that it is 'tacky' to include registry info in the wedding invite. I only wonder because I know in any other state, a [registry] gift is customary and I am inviting a lot of OOT guests.

Re: Registry Notification Etiquette
The registry info should only be spread through word of mouth or they should be included in your shower invites

That's how I feel.........my friends down here in VA do things a little differently. Thanks for the reassurance!

Re: Registry Notification Etiquette
I think shower invites but i choose other because I am currently working on a website for my fh and i that will have info for out of towners, pics, about us, etc and links to where we have registered. I am putting the website on a card that will be attached with magnet std's.

Thank you! That is a great idea! You see, last year I picked up my life and moved down to VA to be near FH. Well, I basically stocked up on everything that a 'couple' would register for and do not need much at all right now.........but being that most of my guests from VA (his fam and our friends) will most likely give gifts (although, I do not expect anythign but for them to be in NY to celebrate), I wanted to make it easier. I think I may have to consider a wedding website!!! Thank you for responding!!!

word of mouth
I disagree. They SHOULD be in the shower invites. Or everyone will be calling the hostesses to ask where you are registered. I was the MOH for a wedding where the bride lived in PA and the shower was in NY and we didn't have the little cards and people drove me BANANAS asking me where she was registered on top of planning and organizing the shower.
Besides that. Word of mouth. If people want to know, they can find out.
The website idea is a good one too, plus if you have webpage through the knot or weddingchannel, they list your registries.

We added our wedding website to our STD's and the registry information is on there :)

OK..here is another question: What if you arent having a shower? Then should it be word of mouth?

Yes.
Or, if you have a wedding web site, you could put it there.
