I hear many differing opinions about registering for china. Some ppl say its a waste, 'you'll rarely if ever use it,' just get really nice everyday plates. Others say go for it.
What did you guys do?
(Sorry, I forgot to type the poll question but you get the point)

Re: Registry poll
We registered for fine china, everyday dishes and another set of everyday dishes.
My FH's family doesn't use china, but my family does and while although right now, I don't see a need for it, I know that in the future, I will want it. So we registered for it and my mom and dad bought us all 12 place settings. We also got a few pieces for our e-party and will hopefully receive more of it at my shower.

Re: Registry poll
I registered for really nice everyday plates b/c my grandma offered to buy them (she's awesome, also bought us our luggage!!), but also registered for China because this is the only time in my life where I am actually going to be able to have it bought for me. Every time you look at it you can remember you're wedding. I'll def use it too, b/c my everyday plates (Crate and Barrel 'Celedon') are kind of fun, so this is a nice contrast.
Crystal Stemtware did NOT make it on my list because I feel like I can buy some regular wine glasses for cheaper, and I'd rather have something else or the cash, JMO though b/c my cousin registered for crystal but no China, just beautiful everyday plates

Re: Registry poll
Look into the Lenox Mediterra collection. Its their line of 'all occasion' china. Its diswasher/ microwave safe for everyday use, but fancy enough that it could be used for Thanksgiving with some really nice wine glasses or something. Its what we got and I liked the mix and match patterns.

Re: Registry poll
I didn't register for fine China only because FH and I have inherited TWO sets of fine China (one from his grandparents, and one from mine). However, if we didn't have that I think we MAY have registered for it, but probably not.

Re: Registry poll
I guess i look at china differntly. My family uses china for every get together and i mean every. All of our birthdays, holidays, sit down dinners.
Anything that takes place in the dining room gets china so i registered for it!
I already have our day ware because the week before we got engaged I bought a whole set of dayware

Re: Registry poll
We only registered for nice everyday plates. I honestly think china is a waste of space in your house. I could care less about it and thankfully FH feels the same way.

We registered for both. I know I'll use it when we finally have a house & alternate holidays.

Re: Registry poll
i registered for china and I figured that if a lot of people didn't get that for me I would just return the pieces i did get and buy something more useful. If I get most of it I will keep it. I would just register for the place settings and maybe a serving bowl. Don't get every single little item like salt and pepper shakers.

Re: Registry poll
We just registered for nice everyday dishes. We're going to be in a small apartment to start & I don't think we'll have much room to store fine china. Plus, in 23 years, my mother has used her china 2 or 3 times. It doesn't seem worth it to me right now.

Re: Registry poll
I wasn't going to register for it, being that we don't have a house and they'll just be in storage. But my coworkers told me that china is something that I'll need in the future, with dinners and all, and since it's expensive, 'you need to put that in your registry' ....so with that said, I added fine china to my registry, although they'll be $100+ per set!
