I registered for 12 place settings of china. My mom said I should put more. How many place settings of china should I register for?
I registered for 12 of my china and 8 of my everyday dishes.
Twelve is plenty. Typically people do settings of 8 or 12. I've seen someone do 16 once...but I really don't think its necessary.
12 place settings of China seems right.

I did 16 because I am one of five kids (so we have a big family). My friend did the same thing, she registered for 16 place settings. Plus, my FSIL registered for 12 when she got married and every holiday she always runs out and has to use her everyday dishes. But I guess it depends on your preference.
I did 14 just to have a couple extra.
i registered for 12, but some people register for 16 or even 18.
I registered for 12. I don't even see me needing that many but I did it since it's standard.

12 is standard, and really, I don't think I would go more than that... most people are lucky if they actually get all 12 place settings off their registery. I would stick with 12, then if you find that you want more as time goes by, you can pick them up slowly.... after Christmas sales, etc. JMO :)

I registered for 12, but I think I am switching it to 16. FH is one of 5 kids. If we have all of his family and my family over for a nice holiday dinner and want to use our china, 12 won't be enough.

12 is the norm. Do you expect to have more than twelve people over in a single day and want to use your fine china?
12 is good.
It really depends on your situation. I registered for 12 and then added 4 more for a total of 16. The reason was we hosted Thanksgiving and the first year we had more than 12 people.
