My parents are planning to throw us our e-party in August and a few friends have told me that we should start a registry so that our guests can get us something from the registry. Now I know gifts arent something people should feel obligated to give at an e-party and I feel like if we register thats a way of saying we expect a gift and I dont want people to feel that way. The friends who suggested the registry said that at least if we register and if people ask, my parents can tell them where we're registered and they can get us something we want rather than something we may not need/want. Any thoughts?

Re: Registry question
In my opinion ,... I think that at an E-party people should give money if they want to give you anything and the registry should be for your bridal shower and that is way too early to do now ... in two years your taste might totally change or newer things might come out. I say you should do a registry 6-8 months before your wedding

Re: Registry question
I would say do not set up a registry... You def dont want people to feel like they should be obligated to get you a gift... but honestly, I think by having an e-party alone, you're basically requesting a gift in whatever form it may be... Only My Opinion!!!!!!!!!

Re: Registry question
well we registered for a few things before our eparty b/c a lot of ppl were asking. we did get some gifts off of it but mostly money. i liked the fact that we did register b/c we got things that we wanted. but it is entirely up to you. a lot of friends of mine didn't register before their eparty and everything worked out.

Re: Registry question
I registered for my e-party..i only had family and my bridal party. I wanted to give them the option if they didn't want to give money. It worked out fine and we got a mixture of both..and believe it or not some people still chose to give us a gift that was not on our registry.

Re: Registry question
Thanks for the feedback ladies. I think FH and I are gonna register for a few things to give people the option and then register for everything else for the shower.

Re: Registry question
We made a SMALL registry since people were asking where we registered. We just put things for entertaining (no electronics or bedding or anything like that) We had some wedding stuff, like picture frames, cake cutter, unity candle holder. And then we had stuff like vases, bowls, wine glasses, etc...
A couple people got us gifts so we were glad we had a registry. Plus I got alot of gifts off my registry for my birthday So you might want to make a small one for holidays like your birthday and christmas!!

Re: Registry question
I would register. People like the option of getting you something they already know you want. Plus the only way it's a gift grab is if you volunteer the information. If they're calling and asking your parents, then they genuinely want to know.

Re: Registry question
I think you should definitely register. Especially if you have people coming from out of town. Our engagement party isn't even until January and we registered for some things already. A lot of my parents friends will not be able to make it to the e-party because they're in Florida, so now this gave them the option of going to the registry and picking out something that we personally want. You can set up the registries to have the gifts sent wherever you want them... it works out for us so we just have thsem sent to my parents house in florida until we get down there.
It all depends on you as the bride and your FH as the groom... each situation is individualized...
either way, have fun :)

We registered b/c we need everything ! By the time the shower rolls around we will still have things on the list and will add more stuff like the china, luggage, and bed linens.

Re: Registry question
I already started looking online and started adding a couple of things to the registry. I cant wait to actually go and do it in the store. Trying to get FH to agree to go this weekend....hes been working a lot and I'm sure hanging out at BB&B is not his idea of a relaxing weekend!

Re: Registry question
We didn't register... because we really didnt expect anything..... I think it's completely up to the couple to decide whether you should register or not.... either is acceptable... Im looking foward to making a registry! Im thinking of starting around my birthday since people are always asking what do you want for your bday!
