Ok so GUEST give MONEY on Engagement Parties??

Sorry but i am new to this... I dont believe ppl from my countr have E-parties... or even engagement...
So i am tryin to understand that,,,,

I think that engagement parties are fairly new here too I never heard of them until about 10 years ago. I'm probably wrong though. We're not having one, all the $ is going to the wedding.

Oh Ok... Because I never heard of them UNTIL i got engaged! lol...

But ppl are suppose to give money to the engaged couple?

Re: Registry Question

Thanks ladies. I guess I'll go register for a few little things that we could use now, and save the bigger stuff to it gets closer to the wedding. I guess there are always the people who are going to buy a gift instead of gving money, so I'd much rather get something I wanted and registered for than something that we wouldn't really like or use.

Thanks again!

Ok I think u should then just for few things....
I heard in Engagement Party's some ppl will not give gifts...

Yeah I heard this too. I could never imagine going to an engagement party and not giving a gift (even if it's something small) but I guess thats jmo!

I've only been to one engagement party and so it was really new to me and I didn't know if gifts were expected so i looked it up online! Of several sources, they all said they were NOT expected at engagement parties, and showers are when you gift.

So I brought something small and sentimental but I felt really bad because many people brought gifts!

Can't believe internet let me down!

ETA: And it was at the engaged couple's house, like a BBQ so i DEFINITELY thought it was an informal, no gift affair!
