Re: Registry Thread about $$

im not sure how it started but people were saying their registry totals - at the time it didnt matter to me b/c i didnt register yet but now im curious....as of now our registry total is at like 3600 and if there are 50 guests its about 72pp - i think if it ends up at 100 or less pp its about right - some people will buy more than 100 worth and some will buy less - i just dont want to over-register....

ETS: FH came up with that idea to divide the total amount by how many people we are expecting at the shower - i guess thats a good way to get an idea right?

I registered for EVERYTHING, lol bc we really had nothing. I had about 75 people at my shower and i received EVERYTHING, and then some. I was shocked bc i figured everyone would spend like $50 or so, some more...but people really went crazy! BUt register for everythign you want, if you don't get it you get a discount at the end if you want to buy it

I have tentativly invited 100-110 women (7 kids) So that is why it is a lot of $$$

my MOH/FSIL said to register for everything - but we know what we need/want and i dont see the need to over-register because there are things that we really want to get and i rather get that stuff instead of filling up our registry and ending up with the things we just put on there for the hell of it and have to do exchanges we live together already so we have a lot of stuff so it makes it even harder to register i rather register for not so much and get everything i want i guess....i already know when my Mom sees the registries she might thinking its so much

yours works out good then - because 100 people x $100 each = 10K (WOW THATS ALOT!) so i think you registered for a good amount of stuff!! they told me to expect around 50-60 people at the shower so i think if my registry goes up to 4500 its ok

Re: Registry Thread about $$

Just register for the stuff you really want. Thats what I did, but I wanted a lot We ended up getting everything, and also got some $$$ which was nice. I wasn't expecting that!

Re: Registry Thread about $$

we have a lot of stuff on our registries. we registered for our e-party, and most of our guests gave us actual gifts. i'm also probably going to have 2 showers (a small one in NY, and a small one out here that FH's mom is throwing me), and then OOT guests who prefer to give wrapped gifts and not cash.

I'm afraid to even add it up

See and my MOH and 2 BM's told me to add more at the begining because there were not enough items. I am glad I did. I used BBB

My mom did that with us, she was with me when i was registering at bloomingdales and everything i picked up she was like how much is that or i picked up some everyday wine glasses and she was like dont you have wine glasses already....I have 2 red wine glasses. FH and I live together too and we just figured register for everything. I added a vase an my mom was like . I said if someone wants to buy it they will, if they dont, there is plenty of other stuff to choose from. I also have roughly 100 women coming to shower, a big bridal party and lots of aunts on each side so i had to give some options for people who want to chip in and stuff.

I don't even want to think about how much the stuff on my registry costs. My mom keeps taking me back to Macy's to put more on there. I mean, how much do I really need?

i didnt even tell my mom that we registered yet my family is small and i guess you would say that they are kind of on the cheap side when compared to my FHs family - and sometimes my mom likes to rub it in your face about how much money she spent on something or talk about how much shhe is spending - like saying it almost to make me feel bad - and its not my fault my parents didnt manage their money better - they arent even helping with the wedding so it ***** when they make you feel bad....for instance i used her macys card (shes an employee) to get her discount when i bought my wedding dress - so i buy the dress and then she asked me to send her the money for it (in full) so she can pay off the bill and that my parents wanted to get it for me but dont have the money now and blah blah blah - so FH ended up writing her a check b/c he felt bad for me and didnt want me to buy my own wedding dress....so i dont know if she is ever going to give FH the money back - she probably wont because she will say that she had to get a dress for herself, my sister is a bridesmaid, they have to fly to NY, and stay in a hotel and blah blah blah - which is fine, i know its alot of money - but dont say you are going to do something and then not come through and then make me feel bad about it - or make me feel guilty that im getting married...like she even said she wishes FH would have given her more time or a better time frame for when he was proposing so she could have prepared better - he didnt know when he'd find the right stone and have enough money for it its just she makes me feel bad sometimes....and another thing - she kept hinting that she wanted me to register at macys (b/c she can use her employee discount) and for us macys doesnt have anything and now im stuck registering for stuff there (we literally have like 5 items on it) b/c i feel to guilty to not have anything on there because of her ok sorry im venting now! oooops!

Re: Registry Thread about $$

OK... I might not leave this up but I gave in and counted just the unpurchased stuff (not including anything that we received for our e-party or bought for ourselves from our registry) and the amounts left on each are:

Macys: $3550 (includes 2 fancy bedding sets)
Crate & Barrel: $520
BBB: $1804 before any coupons

total = $5874

I keep wavering between thinking we have too much or too little on our registries...

I remember seeing that thread. It was before we registered though. Once we close on the house I'm going to add more stuff to it then I'll total it up!

FH's family is all from oot and i've been hearing that they want to give wrapped gifts. his grandparents might chip in and get our bedding (or at least some of it) but depending on how our registries look after shower stuff is done, i might add some fancy pots/pans and maybe an air mattress

Re: Registry Thread about $$

i had tiny registries and got mostly everything for the shower ( we lived together and didnt know if were were going to stay where we are now or buy a house )

a few people gave stuff for the wedding..but it was mainly the people that couldnt come and sent us a package

i put things on there simply for the discounts afterwards ( i work for JCP ) so ill be saving A LOT!!!

my totals were about $2800 total over al 3 registries
