rehearsal dinner spots in suffolk

I'm having my wedding in Oakdale, but am from the Stony Brook/Port Jeff area. I'm trying to find a rehearsal dinner spot. I'm willing to do either location -- or somewhere in b/n. Although, I am leaning toward the SB Port Jeff area bc I think that is where guests will be staying. Any ideas? Looking for nice, but not too pricey. Thanks!!

Re: rehearsal dinner spots in suffolk

I am actually thinking of La Famiglia too! Anyone been to a RD there before?? Going there this week to try the food.

Not sure about Pt Jeff, but in Hauppauge, I've been to Butterfields for a RD which was delicious.

Pasta Pasta is also great and their catering menu is on their website:

i love the food at la famiglia- but it can be noisy and the room is to the side, they dont necessarily block it off, yet who would want to sit there with a party there??? thats what they told me ..the owner is really nice and they will do a price fix for you! hope you enjoy it

I would have to say Pasta, Pasta in Port Jefferson. My fiance and I went there for his birthday. It is so wonderful. Everything is great.

Re: rehearsal dinner spots in suffolk

I am having mine at The Riverview. I also went to The Snapper Inn, Shandon Court and Irish Coffee Pub. I REALLY wanted it at The Gatsby, but FFIL wouldn't go for it. It was too $$ for one of the 'better' menus they offered.

Re: rehearsal dinner spots in suffolk

We had ours at the Brickhouse Brewery in Patchogue. It was perfect for us, we had a separate room and separate bathrooms and the food was really good. The cake was better than my wedding cake.

Re: rehearsal dinner spots in suffolk

Our guests will be staying in the same area as yours...

the places that Im going to research are:

Three Village Inn (we had our e-party here, the food was amazing!!!)

Pasta Pasta

Orlandos (Smithtown/St James)

Amici's (Mt Sinai)

Danfords (that is where I blocked hotel rooms)

Ruby's (Pt Jeff)

we eat all the time at the 3 Village Inn, pasta pasta, orlandos and amicis... so i know for a fact those are all delicious!!

we had ours at Sonoma Grille in Holbrook, it's right on Sunrise Hwy near the STop and Shop. We had a private room ,the food was great, and the price reasonable!

Re: rehearsal dinner spots in suffolk

If you want a fun place as well as good food, I am having mine at Blue Honu in Huntington.. I had my engagement party there... SO MUCH FUN.. We had a cocktail party instead of a boring sit down dinner, DJ, etc...

I've been to a lot of these places...

Vintage in St. James is good (but usual steak house $$).

Burke and Shapiro is a below average steak house in my opinion.

Cafe Rustica in Smithtown is alright- nice ambiance, but I've had much better food.

Cafe La Strada has excellent food and very nice/ professional staff.

Mirabelle in St. James is always ranked one of the best french restaurants on LI- VERY good, but probably more per head than most weddings.

Garden Grill in Smithtown- I had never been there before but my BMs threw my shower there. The food was good, staff was nice, and room was very cute.

H20 in Smithtown- went once, never again (on purpose)

Bella Vita in St. James- it's alright. it's one of my best friend's favorite restaurants, but I never really cared for it.

Pasta Pasta in Port Jeff is excellent- but small, so it depends how many people you're having.

La Casa in Centerport- yuck.

Hope that helps a bit.

Re: rehearsal dinner spots in suffolk

i second danfords - 25 east has great food

the sea basin ( in rocky point ) has fantastic food too - that is where we had ours - they arent expensive either and have a seperate room upstairs that can accommodate quite a large party

if you like italian how about colucci's they have seperate rooms too -they are on north country road just a couple of mins from 112
