I just called my RH to determine when I can have rehearsal and was told that because there are so many xmas parties and senior luncheons around the time of my wedding (December 15th) that the only time that I have available to me is the hour before my wedding!!!!
Now, I understand that there are other parties to be booked and I'm not trying to be bridezilla -BUT- its 6 months out and they do not have any parties booked yet for that time.
Question is - should I fight for a rehearsal on that Friday afternoon/evening? I booked first and I'm paying MUCH more than the xmas parties.
IM FUMING!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Rehearsal Question
Do you really NEED to rehearse? You will have your MaitreD there to tell everyone what to do anyway. We didn't do a rehearsal b/c I wanted pixctures before my ceremony & we didn't have time. We were fine. It's a long straight aisle. Just walk down it & smile.

Re: Rehearsal Question
honestly, you really do not need to rehearse, if marrying at the hall. trust me, they handle it nicely cause they do it all the time. we didn't have a rehearsal until about an hour or so before the ceremony either--it took all of 5 min. very simple and straight fwd.
IMHO--unless you have like 40 ppl in your BP and lots of intricate things like a certain way you want them to walk or something, rehearsals are totally and 100% unnecessary. don't stress over it, because in reality even if you rehearse, ppl will totally forget what was discussed in rehearsal a few days beforehand anyhow. and the hall will want you to rehearse AGAIN that morning, no matter what. so just cut out the middle and just rehearse that morning!

Re: Rehearsal Question
My cousin didn't have a rehearsal for her ceremony--she was married at her RH. The RH don't always provide one because of time constraints and bookings. If they won't give you one, make sure your bridal party is early the day of so that the maitre'd can go over everything with everyone.

Re: Rehearsal Question
Unless you have a really large BP, there is no need for a separate rehersal. We are doing one before the ceremony.

Re: Rehearsal Question
I did forget to add - however - that we are having an evening wedding and taking pictures before the wedding -
We can only get into the bridal suite starting at 5:30 pm, and then have a rehearsal at 6:00 pm, I dont think that that will give us enough time.

That's really outrageous. I would be mad too.

Re: Rehearsal Question
My church would not let me rehearse on Friday so we are doing it on Thursday!!! Maybe that is an option for you!!! Gives me the next day to go to the spa and primp before the wedding instead of rushing to a rehearsal and dinner afterward!!! Try Thursday!!! It might work out better than right before the wedding.

Re: Rehearsal Question
That's really annoying and would bother me. But what if you just had a meeting with everyone and made a mock-up aisle and simply went over thing and practiced with that?

i honeslty think you will have enough time. trust me when i say the rehearsal takes all of 15 min. you just have to 'rehearse' walking in--and walking out. that's it. the ceremony part is self-explanatory

Re: Rehearsal Question
I was in a bridal party 2 summers ago and they had the rehearsal an hour before the ceremony at the RH! It worked out really well!!!

Re: Rehearsal Question
Honestly, I think by fighting with the RH on this one, your going to cause tension there you really don't need...... I agree that a rehearsal the night before is ideal - But your RH is not going to turn down $$ from a Christmas party for a 15 minute rehearsal.
Our RH does it the day of - actually right as guests are arriving. Invite time is 6:30, but the ceremony will start at 7....so while guests are inside having pre-ceremony champagne etc, they take 5-10 minutes to rehearse outside. It's just telling the BP where to walk. But, I actually think I'm going to stay up in the suite so I don't risk anyone seeing me as they arrive (the street is right below). Bride doesn't really need to be there anyways - we know where we need to go!

Re: Rehearsal Question
I'm surprised that they didn't set time for you in the first place. It is a wedding afterall, most people have rehearsals. I would definitely say something. They can't be booked that entire week. I'm having mine two days before, since Fridays are big for weddings too.
I'm even thinking of not having one, since I have a small bridal party.
Hope if works out.

Re: Rehearsal Question
We are going to have our rehearsal at my house the evening before the wedding (45 minutes) to go over line up, this and that, everything else. After that we will be headed to the rehearsal dinner. Even if you can go over this and that at the rehearsal dinner site. I hope that I helped you out a little.

Re: Rehearsal Question
If you really want one in advance I would call them back and express that. We are getting married at out RH and taking pics ahead of time and we are doing our run through and hour prior to the ceremony. I hope you are able to work everything out so you will be comfortable.

Re: Rehearsal Question
We are having our rehearsal on Thursday, two days before our wedding, and if that is something you would like to do for understandable reasons then i would demand they set aside some time for you.

...This is what I plan on doing also.
I can totally understand why you want to have a rehersal.... It's YOUR day & you want one.. simple as that. You want to have peace of mind that you know what you are suppossed to do & you want to make sure your BP knows what they are suppossed to do. There is nothing wrong with asking your RH to acommodate your rehersal for another day.
