Relating to Reception Music

Just taking a little poll... What STYLES of music do you like to dance to at weddings?

I am having a band, they do not take an entire song list. I need to provide them with favorite artists and styles of music.

Thought I'd see what you ladies enjoy so I can make my list! Thanks!

Man, we will have everything Literally, there'll be classical during the cocktail hour, and a mix of 80's alternative, 80's freestyle, swing/big band and even country music! We will also have modern top 40 & techno.

There will also be traditional Italian music for the elder members of our families!

We are also having Croatian music for his side! But that's a totally different band! Sheesh! This is making me crazy!

some reggae will be fun!
I like 90's dance music better than todays.
Not too much disco.
Some country!! yay
some swing
a lot of 80's since there will be a lot of us in that age range there.

Tell me about it. My FH & I are/were both musicians... I am classical & Jazz, he was fusion & big band, PLUS we both DJed in HS, so we will have a really tremendous time trying to narrow it down to 6 hours of music.

I like dance/club/top40 music, with some slow songs. I also like the abba style music, some older latin and italian songs (from the 70s or so) and fast spanish guitar music.

Lauren, your MC should be able to gather your taste based on a song list that you give him. For example, we gave our MC 300 songs or so, and he glanced at it and claimed to know our taste. Of course, I get to find out if he knows our taste on my wedding day, but he said he'll try to play the songs from my list.
