Relatives staying at your/FH's house?

Original post by xjulietx

Does anyone expect that you will be hosting relatives in your homes during the week of your wedding? What about FH? Anyone uncomfortable about this?

I think I will be having my grandparents at my house (not too bad, but still tight) but I think FH will be having a house full of overseas guests and he thinks he will be asked to give up his bedroom. I told FH that I think he should put his foot down and tell his mom that he is sleeping in his bed because it his wedding, but he doesn't think he will win.

Thoughts on relatives using your house like a hotel for your wedding?

Well I come from a very traditional Italian family, and not offering your home to them when they are traveling for you and/or someone close to you is extremely rude in their eyes. My FI uncles are staying at his house, however my relatives from Canada insisted on a hotel room, which my father insisted on paying for. It's whatever you're use to.

yes, FH is expecting a few guests - his aunt and her kids & husbands. I think this is going to drive him nuts. They onlyhave one shower and I think 10 people that need to get ready. It's only two nights -pay for a hotel. His parents went to Las Vegas for one of her daughters wedding and Pennsylvania for the other. I could see if they had two showers maybe - but give me a break. I am even going to a hotel due to space in my own house. My grandmother on the other hand has 7 people - three of which are teenage girls - can you imagine trying to get into that bathroom.

We're having a very full house the weekend of my wedding. My brother is taking over my room, only because I offered a bed to one of my BMs who can't afford a hotel room. I'll share a room with her, and my cousin, who's my MOH and her husband and neice will share another bedroom. Whew! I know it'll be chaos, but that's okay.
