Repost fomr NWR: Hairdo for black tie optional wedding

How would you wear your hair for a black tie optional wedding? I'm wearing a long black satin ballgown. Any suggestions? I have to make the drive to philly, so I'm pretty concerned about my hair.

ETA: I also don't want to be too dolled up b/c FH's tux doens't fit so he's just wearing a nice black suit

I don't know if you're looking to do it yourself, but what about putting your hair in rollers for the drive and when you get to Philly you can take them out and have nice romantic curls. You could also just put your hair in a sleek ponytail and get a nice beaded/floral ponytail holder. Low buns are always chic too.

Use a quality holding product and that should help tame the curls for a low bun. I love the way it looks..
Do it low like the last pic but kinda twist it like the first!

Pul it back after washing it and putting product in - pull into a tight pony at nape of neck (i like pulling a piece of bang sleek over to the side so hair is not so '4 year old ballerina' bun) tie pony. Then, twist hair and wrap it around itself, securing with another pony, and then bobby pins to tame the 'sprays' of hair that will want to come out (if hair is sufficently wet and filled with product this will not happen) Pretty easy and quick!

Or, the messy look works if you sell it - like these-
