Anyone who is a NCPD officer or whose DH/FH is, can you please tell me how long it may take to be called for the academy. MY FH just took the test yesterday and he is confindent that he did well and very anxious to start.
I told him it may take a year, but he doesn't think it is that long.
TIA

Re: Repost form NWR: Nassau County Police
girls i hate to be the barer of bad news ... but several months ago, NC held the NCPD test and over 20,000 people applied to take the test - for only 600 openings!
FH was thinking about it ... best of luck to you and FH's if they wish to be in the NCPD!

Re: Repost form NWR: Nassau County Police
It reallly depends on the score he gets and quickly they are going to hire. The last test that was given people who scored in the highest percent were called a year after the test was administered to start the appilcation process, previously people waited years to get on. They still may have at least two more academy classes in from the last test, so it may be a at least a year or so before he hears anything. Good luck to him, it is a great job!

Re: Repost form NWR: Nassau County Police
my fh actually took the test yesterday as well He is already NYPD, but he'd love to work a little closer to home.
It will definitely take probably at least a year, could even take more... I know Suffolk only tests every 4 years or so and pulls from the test for that long, so a lot will depend on where he falls with his scores, as I believe they call the highest scores first, and then on down the line as needed. I believe Nassau works in a similar way.
best of luck to him!

Re: Repost form NWR: Nassau County Police
yea, it takes a while. my brother in law is a nassau county policeman and he waited at least 6-8mos to hear that he passed the exam and was being called in for the medical, then also had to take the psychological, and both of them had a brief waiting period.
the good news is, once you're in some venues give discounts for NCPD. I know my sister got a discount at the Chateau Briand. Not sure how much.

I just spoke to BM who took the test today - she said that the people who took the test in June will be getting a response in December, so she figures that those who took the test this month will be hearing something by February... and after that starts the medical tests and the academy...

Re: Repost form NWR: Nassau County Police
The test that was a few months ago was for Suffolk county. About 29,000 took it for about 700 open positions. Results for that have not been sent out yet. NYPD is desperate because of the low pay. They will take just about anyone. The are not even making the minimum for their classes. Good luck to those who are taking the NCPD test this week!
