Repost from 06-Both Living at home?

Hey, my FH just moved back home last wknd to save $ for the wedding and stuff. I live at home too now. Does anyone have advice on some nice, cheap nights away on the Island? Even the City will do once in a while! This is going to be a tough year for both of us.

If you go down by the Port Jeff Ferry, they have a free travlers guide with hotel coupons for the Northeast...They have really great deals...FH and I have used the coupons when we went to CT and upstate NY...You should definitely check it out!!

you may think this sounds crazy, and I have never stayed here, but there is a YMCA hotel in the 60's across from Central Park that is one the best kept secrets in the City. I found out b/c FH runs the marathon every year- many out-of-towners actually stay there because it's so close to the finish. It's clean and in one of the best areas- and I think it's about $70 per night. I think one of the rooms even has a jacuzzi or something. I've never been in any of the rooms, but the marathoners I've spoken to say it's just fine!

Also try priceline.com. My coworker was able to stay at the Waldorff for his anniversary for $65!! He did it very last minute and was shocked that his price was accepted. You never know! I have also used priceline and have gotten some good deals.

Staying out in montauk is inexpensive in the off season. The montauk yacht club is a nice place to stay.

We go away at least three times or more a year. A nice place to stay in the city is the Marriott Marquee. We stayed the night we got engaged. It was about $340 a night but ask for the escape package. It gives you a night stay, chocolate covered strawberries and champange in your room, and dinner at either of the two restaurants at the Marquee. We ate at JW steak house and it was a set menu, but everything tasted really good.
