want to hear something funny? We are using all the ribbon that I save from gifts from Williams Sonoma-- they use so much ribbon and it is so nice- it's perfect.. so, yes a strip of ribbon.. I tried the bow thing and it just was not working.. I had the idea just to do it straight- I thought it looked 'smart' and sleek. The woman at Kate's said to heat the edges- of the cut ribbon- with a lighter or something-- it seals it and finishes it..

The seals are at mygatsby.com and they have 4 diff. shapes/sizes..

They are still not cheap though- to makee 200 of these puppys, it's still going to cost me $1 a piece. But, it's still cheaper than ordering something with all these embellishments, and I feel the seal makes it look more professional..

Let me know if you have q's if you attempt.. I'll be happy to help, and once these are done- I'll post the finished product.

Hey Randi, that is so great about the extra ribbon! How perfect! I do agree about the straight ribbon rather than a bow, much more sleek, and I happen to think it compliments your invites w/ the clean lines, etc...
Good tip about the edge of the ribbons, never would have thought to do that.
You really can't beat that cost especially for how the finished product will look.
I'll let you know how it goes once I start looking!! :)

Ok .... so we found out that we went to the same high school... and now when i'm reading your invitation I could swear that your fiance knows the girl that set my fiance and I up. ..not sure if that made sense, and I know it sounds weird but I never forget a name. Im curious......

thanks so much! I got them through a friend of a freind who does invitations- she is written up on NY Metro though and she has a great selection-- Phyllis Roth, By Invitations.. She is on the Upper West Side.. let me know if you want her info.

I definitely want her info.... When should I order invitations, if my wedding is in July? I'm not sure if my timeline is accurate....

Anyway, Her name is Lisa and she is from Great Neck. She went to HS with my FI and lived on my floor senior year of college. She always talked about her friends Matt and Dan (my now FI). Did your FI go to law school in Washington? Maybe she knew him from camp? I'm not sure. The last I spoke to her (a while ago) she said her friend Matt got engaged.

It's so funny cause after I read that to Matt.. I clicked on your name- and I am like, his name starts with a D.. and he figured it out. I remember you telling me a while back that your FH was from Great Neck- so he put it together.. I am reading your post to Matt- did you go to Muhlenberg?? It's funny- my ex- went there, but he prob wasn't there when you were.. Matt did not go to law school in Washington.. he just knows Lisa through a mutual friend- and I guess, they all started hanging out in HS-- ya know, the lure of people from another town. We have not seen or heard from Lisa in a while either.

That is so funny! I can't believe how well my 'yenta-vision' works sometimes! I went to hofstra. That's where I met Lisa. Is your FI from Great Neck as well? It's such a small world!!

Well- you get a bunch of people from LI on a web site, most people are bound to be connected in one way or another. Matt is from Old Westbury- but he had a lot of camp friends from Great Neck, etc.. I think their groups of friends just started hanging out in HS.. I didn't know Lisa went to Hofstra- maybe she transferred there? Anyway- were you guys at her house for a birthday party her parents threw like a year or two ago??
