Repost, I am starting to get a little paranoid, they are ALL going to say YES!

I can't have 260 people at my wedding, no really, I physically can't. My max is 235, and that is really pushing it.

Everyone is making room reservations, and looking forward to going away for the weekend! Our plan to cut the list by getting married upstate is backfiring!

For all the brides getting their RSVPs back, how many have said no?

I know we are in a different position, but I need to be calmed down!

Just a quick question.. your date says October under your avatar... is it sooner then that?!

I'll have a heart attack if I have more then 100 and I'm inviting 135 (with another 30 on my B list)

FI says I'mm gonna have a nervous breakdown before I'm 30.

Don't about 10 % say no or can't make it?

My hall told me to count on a minimum of 20% saying no.

You sent your invites out already?!

i had the same problem, we invited 240 and the hall holds 210 or 220 (can't remember right now). so far we have 51 no's, and we are still waiting for FMIL to contact her relatives who didn't respond (about 20 people).

2 different Banquet Managers told me that a typical drop off rate is 15-20%

you still have so much time. people will say no - things will come up. You are going to kill yourself if you spend the next 7 months freeking about this...

I haven't sent out my invites yet, I just like to make myself crazy.

I have heard the 15-20% thing, I was just wondering if I should rely on it, what with the STDs and it being a 'getaway'

I have to stop freaking out about this, but it also bugs me that FI has all these ridiculous family members, that in 4 years I have yet to meet! Not to mention that I have about 20 cousins that I didn't include, but they have invited my parents to every one of their weddings.

FIs family doesn't call, write, nothing, not even Christmas cards! His mom says we have to invite them though because they talk. Ya know what.....let them talk! I have to forgo having some of my family there, so should they! This just makes me so mad

Well, it comes down to this... who is paying for the wedding? If you or your folks are, then you have the right to 'dictate' who's on the list. If his folks are paying, it's really their call.

STD's should help give you an idea of who will be able to come to the wedding.

His family is giving us a substantial amount, but if there's no room for all these people, all the money in the world doesn't help.

Plus, now the shower list is getting out of control too, and my mom is paying for it! Right now, there are 85 people on the shower list, 40 are FMIL's side, not including FI's friends wives. 40 is a lot of people!! I don't know half of them. I don't think it's right for my mom to have to pay for all those people!

You're right about the shower list being out of control!! Why do your FI friend's wives need to be invited?

I am friends with a lot of FIs friends wives, and only those will be invited, it's the family that I've never met, who they don't talk to that really gets me!

I'm not really sure what to say... his family needs to be included in the shower, even though you have never met. Sometimes wedding planning makes me feel like we should have eloped!

We had a small wedding with only CLOSE family and firends. 140 was the total and 120 was the final count. Don't worry ....

I am so SCARED that they will all say YES!!!!!
We are inviting over 300 people

I want to make the minimum 180 and not do much more! I haven't sent out the invites, so I don't know what will happen, but we are just inviting ENTIRELY too much!

i'm just starting to get my RSVPs back, and i'm a little surprised by some of the no's and some of the yes's BUT overall the 20% rule is holding up. i would never count on more than 20% though. i think relying on 10% not to come is OK.
