I went shopping with my FMIL today at BR and we finally got a dress for her to wear to the wedding. Now i was trying to find a pic of the dress, and found a website selling the dress for $398... we bought the dress for $595!
i dont know what to do, that is such a BIG price difference! any suggestions? we already put a 250 dollar deposit...

I agree. See if perhaps they can match the price. Did you just order the dress? Maybe it's not too late to cancel the order and give your deposit back.

i just checked the receipt and it says final sale....my mom bought her dress there too, and now i'm sure they overcharged her too
i am going to go back to BR tomorrow and ask them if they can give a discount.... it still amazes me how i get scammed left and right by every single wedding vendor... i can't believe they charge 600 bucks for a 400 dollar dress!

Which website did you find the dress on?? My mom is still on the hunt for the 'perfect' dress. Her perfect dress was $875, but I'm paying and I can't afford to spend that much

Re: REPOST- need help about FMIL dress
there were two websites: the first was www.houseofbrides.com and the other was www.thebridalshop.com...
Do you know the name of the designer?

Re: REPOST- need help about FMIL dress
They ripped the tag out of the dress, but the style # was 924 and they had it in sky blue and in a beige color. The material was raw silk and it had a beautiful train. I wish I could have afforded to buy it for her, but I can't now. I already have to buy all her stuff and one of my bridesmaids really screwed me with her dress and shoes. The day we all went to get the dresses, she said she didn't have money and I got stuck paying for all her stuff. Needless to say, I still haven't seen the money and that was 2 months ago. This is a whole other post though!!!

PS. The Bridal Shop is in Westchester where I live... and they are SOOOO horrible! If that's where you saw it, dont worry about the difference in money. Buying at that store you may never see a dress at all!

wow that sux about your bm... it is sooo nice of you to buy your mom's dress... i have faith that you can find it cheaper on the net (from my own experience today).
What store did you see it at? maybe one of us girls will know what designers that store carries, and we'll be able to find it that way.

Re: REPOST- need help about FMIL dress
I saw it at Amelia's in Fleetwood (westchester) If I found it for 500, i'd buy it in a heartbeat. I feel bad b/c my mom never asks for much and she's never had a special day like this to dress up and look beautiful. I really want her to feel like a queen on my wedding day. Her whole life was spent working 2 or 3 jobs to take care of the 4 of us and then taking care of my brother that died... she's still working so hard and I know it pains her that she can't help me with the wedding.
sorry... I needed that vent. whew!

Call the salon and see if they will match the price or at least give some sort of discount. That is a big difference.

I agree, that's a huge price difference. That just isn't right. I love that dress, my mom and I saw it online and fell in love with it, but when she tried it on, it just didn't look as good on her as the model. Oh well.

Re: REPOST- need help about FMIL dress
i THINK there is a law of like 3 days to back out of any contract... so you should be able to get your $$ back... not sure about that law, my mom always mentions it though.

I think it's Jovani. My MIL wore that exact dress to our wedding but hers had 3/4 sleeves. I am 100% certain it is Jovani.

Glad it all worked out for you, and that they price matched...
However (JMHO) I think that's really shady that they'll just overcharge like that and then adjust the price so easily.

Christine, I COMPLETELY agree with you... i was so pissed last night i could not sleep. I am not a business person, but i really dont understand how some people think it is right to run their businesses like this.
