I mailed out invites last week. Of course after having the final list FH and my dad needed to add on 10 people. My catering hall's max is 220, but I was told comfortly holds 180. Right now I have 235 invited. It seems like people who I thought would not come are now coming. Got about 15 responses and none are a no yet. How many people usuallys respond no.

Re: Response Cards?
When sending out invitations just count on having everyone attend. There is no science on how many people will decline.

Re: Response Cards?
it really all depends, you usually know up front who the 5-10 who wont come due to illness or being older or out of state is, then as for everyone else, its all up in the air.

Re: Response Cards?
there was a thread discussing this about 2 months ago. The general consensus was about 20%...
Our experience so far is that the 'yes' cards come back quickly, while the 'no' cards do not. The majority of cards not returned by now we expect to be no's.... only a couple cards will likely say yes.
so don't sweat it! It would be very out of the ordinary to have a guest list so large without at least 20 no's....

Re: Response Cards?
Everyone keeps telling me that the people you think will come don't come & the people you don't expect to show will !?! I know that doesn't help but I was in your same situation a few weeks ago & now we have enough no's to at least fit in our room !!!

Re: Response Cards?
Yes's come quickly, NO's do not...
I think you'll be fine...
Also, 'life happens.' We had people be unable to come to our wedding due to: an accident 2 days before the wedding a death (in our own family), a friend being too sick from her chemo. to come, etc. etc. things happen and you will lose people from the list. All this went down a few weeks to a month before the wedding. some of your yes's may turn to nos.

Re: Response Cards?
I had about the 'standard' 20% say no... And yes - people I thought for sure would be there aren't coming...
Don't worry - you will fit in the room just fine and have a perfect day!!!

Re: Response Cards?
I think on average 15% to 20% will decline. At least that's what I'm hoping for

Re: Response Cards?
In general rule of thumb 20% -25% are returned as a 'no'
