Rest in Peace dad 05/09/2014

My father passed away yesterday, as I watched the paramedics and later the hospital try to revive him. I have not witnessed anything more difficult in my life and I am not sure how to handle it, I booked my wedding date 'rushing' in a way, because I knew he was sick and I wanted him to be there with us, now that he's gone im having second thoughts about the date or having a wedding at all, in the near future anyway. He was the only family I've had left. All I know, I have to be there for my younger brother ( 14y/0) and sister ( 10y/0 ) as they watched their dad pass away. Any ideas anyone might have on how to cope with something like this

I am so sorry for you. If you need anything please dont hesitate to ask. You are in my prayers.

I would suggest a grief counselor. I know when my MOH's dad died her and her brother's went to see a counselor and it really helped her.

I would suggest counseling as well. If you need anything, let me know. I could not imagine what you are going through but I will be praying for you and your family for this difficult time.

My dad passed away about 4 years ago (2days before my 21st bday)- it was very sudden but I know what your going through and I know how hard it is to witness that. I never saw a grief counselor so I cannot speak to that. But I can say, lean on your FH. Mine was amazing through that time - and still is when I get upset over it now. Do what you think is best for you when it comes to your wedding date - but don't make any decisions right away. It's hard but concentrate on you and on your family and celebrating the life of your father I am so sorry that you are going through this. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers

So sorry to hear of your loss. Your family will be in my prayers! Don't worry about planning right now, take some time to grieve and get back to planning when you're feeling up to it.

I'm so very sorry for your loss. You and your family will be in my thoughts and in my prayers. Truthfully, I think right now your focus should be on yourself as well as your siblings. The wedding planning can be put on hold at this point. Take the time that it is to allow yourself to grieve and heal your heart. I know it's easier said than done but look back at the life he lived and the wonderful times you had with him. He will always be in your heart and you now have an angel with a name looking down on you. Big hug! Ssqqqqquuuueeezzzeeeeee

i lost both my parents 3 years ago a month apart from each other. it was extremely hard but i got through it by just keeping a positive attitude and looking ahead towards my future because i knew i had alot ahead of me. I miss them everyday but try and just remember the good times you had together and not to focus on the bad..... I'm very sorry for your loss. I wouldn't jump to drastic measures of changing your wedding date yet, but give yourself a break from it to just focus on family things before you make any decisions.ya know so you can mourn and clear your head? :) Good luck with everything!

So sorry for your loss! I can't imagine what you must be feeling right now. I would say put planning on the back burner and concentrate on your siblings and getting through this grief. Don't make any rash decisions about the wedding until you've had time to process. They say you shouldn't make life-altering decisions for one year after a big loss, because the chance of regret is so incredibly high. Again, so sorry. Us LIweddings girls are always here for you

I'm so sorry for your loss! If you need to talk all of us are here for you. That's a really hard situation and I'm sorry you all had to go through it. I heard about support groups that break up by ages. Maybe that would be good so you would be with people around your age and your siblings will be with people around their age. Your in my prayers!

I'm so sorry for your loss... I went through something similar a few months ago, and witnessing something like that definitely takes a toll on someone mentally and physically. I agree that maybe you shouldn't change your date just yet but take a little break and allow yourself to grieve. If you ever need anything please don't hesitate to send me a message. Again, my condolences.

I am so beyond sorry for your loss.
I lost my father in January 2013, so I'm going on this journey without him as well. Way too young.

For you, take 1 day at a time. Remember the good times, but allow yourself to cry.

As far as your siblings go, remember that everyone grieves in their own way. Just assure them that you are there for them.

If you ever need to talk - please reach out to me.
