Review of last night's wedding
First -- I would like to say that for a bunch of grumpy, video game playing, anti-partying, sit in the corner friends that FH has...........they were AWESOME last night! They were all telling me that for a friend's wedding, they go all out. They were up on the dance floor all night and were really so much fun! I am that much more excited for my wedding now!
Ok, so the Royalton is beautiful and I had a great time! We got there early because there was nothing to do between the wedding and reception, but they didn't have any place for us to hang out. There was no bar area or anything. After being there for 45 minutes, they started to pass out hors d'oeuvres. The piece of beef on a stick (I have no clue what it actually was) was amazing! It literally was falling off the stick, it was so tender! They also passed out spring rolls and chicken on a stick.
Cocktail Hour --
They let us into cocktail hour 15 minutes early, which was good. The bad part about cocktail hour -- there was not enough room for everyone to move or put down their drinks. I know traditionally there are not enough seats for every guest, but it felt like there were only seats for 20% of the guests and it got a little crowded. What made up for it? The food!
There was a carving station with ham, steak and turkey. There was a sushi station (I don't eat sushi, but a lot of FH's friends do and they said it was great). There was a cold antipasto station that also had some Indian food on it (the bride and groom love Indian food). There was a fajita station, pasta station (with lobster ravioli, mushroom ravioli and another kind that I can't remember!), and another station I can't really think of. All of the food was really good!
Reception --
The DJ was great, the dance floor was big (and packed!) and the tables were not squished! Their centerpieces were wine bottles that were corked with a candelabra and flowers surrounded the bottom. When we walked in there was a salad waiting. It had raspberry vinaigrette on it. There was fruit on it too. It was surprisingly good! (I don't normally like fruity salads) The dinner choices were ribeye steak with “smashed” potatoes, mahi mahi with lobster risotto, duck l’orange, and spinach fettucini. Pretty much everyone at our table ordered the steak, but someone ordered the duck and said it was delicious. The steak was so tender and perfectly cooked. There was a lot of fat on mine, but FH ate it all so nothing went to waste![]()
Viennese --
Yum! It was back in the cocktail room. There were pastries, cakes, a chocolate fountain, cocktails shots served in mini chocolate shot glasses, ice cream (which I ate on line while we waited to get to the rest of the stuff). Plus, there was wedding cake with cannoli cream filling waiting for us at the table. All of the desert was so good!
Wow -- this turned out much longer than I originally anticipated -- hope this helps future Royalton brides!
