Review of the musical Hairspray!

I went to see hairspray on Saturday night and it was very good. Harvey Fienerstein (sp) was in it and he was AWESOME..the star in imo!

The girl who played the Rikki Lake part had a strong voice but such an annoying voice, she sounded like a cartoon! Overall though, very good musical!

It was at the neil simon theater and we were in the mezzanine and let me warn you..no room at all! I was there once before to see Guys and Dolls and had forgotten just how tight it was up there. There is no place to put your coat at all, I had to stuff mine under my chair..classy huh? My dh who is 6'4 had his knees in his mouth and was so uncomfortable. This lady in front of him laughed at one point and threw her head back and smashed her head on my dh's knee so hard..I dont know who got more hurt! LOL

OMG!! I went on Friday. I loved it.
The lead is Kathy Brier. I thought she was good. I love her in One Life To Live (Marcie). I live next to a stage hand for Broadway so I got a tour of backstage. I wish I got to see her though. Harvey Fierstein was hysterical. I thought it was great. I was in the 2nd row on the right side and we were pretty squished too!
