Review of Westbury & M*I*A* NOW WITH UPDATE!
I have been soooo busy that I still havent gotten around to writing a full review but wanted at least to write something to help any ladies that I possibly can...
Westbury Manor- B- Everything was gorgeous. I got A LOT of compliments on my cocktail hour which was outside and the set up was incredible. The food was unbelievable, but I was not happy with my service AT ALL. There was a party previous to mine as well as another party going on upstairs. They were expecting us much earlier than we arrived, we were late, yet my bridal suite was NOT ready when we got there. It was still not ready after an hour that we were there and cocktail hour had started. The bridal attendant sat me in the indoor cocktail hour room, where I still had guests walking by to talk to me. Then I get dragged into our room to take pictures which we only had about 10 minutes to take pictures because now our guests are lining up to get in the room. Again my husband and I asked for our bridal suite and I was again told that it was STILL NOT ready! I had to make my grand entrance into my reception without freshening up. The entire evening I NEVER got my bridal suite!!!!!!! They NEVER came over to me to tell me it was ready! I DIDNT get to freshen up ALL NIGHT! THe DJ had to do his set up ON WHEELS because the room wasnt ready from the previous party! I WAS VERY VERY PISSED and DISAPOINTED that a place like Westbury Manor couldnt handle the transition from one party to the next AND couldnt handle having more than one party at a time!
AND to top it all off, the expert bridal attendant who is an expert at bustles and sewing, DESTROYED the back of my dress by bustling it wrong! And not only did she bustle it to the wrong buttons on my dress, she made it so high that it was pulling in the front and the bustle itself was ON MY BACK! The button for my bustle was near my knees!!!!!!!!!! I now have over 5 buttons missing off the back of my dress, the bottom of my dress is a TOTAL MESS and in my pictures my dress looks TERRIBLE! You can see the crinoline, you can see it pulling in front, you can see its literally bustled to MY BACK!!!!! And since I never got my suite I couldnt see cause I didnt have a mirror ALL NIGHT! She didnt once say to me O Im sorry its hard for me to see in here lets go to your suite where you can freshen up and I can bustle your dress properly NO NOTHING! NO ONE was EVER taken to the suite, no matter how many times we asked, our bridal party asked! It was embarrassing for us and it was TERRIBLE because I NEVER got to freshen up or take a breather for a few minutes from everyone. NOR did we get any nice pictures in the suite!
I was VERY disapointed in this considering how AMAZING everything else was. I have since called to speak with someone about it and was brushed off the phone and told to write a letter to the owner. He didnt even want to hear what we had to say he cut my husband off and said write a letter, which we did and no one even called us about it!!!!
Makeup with M*I*A*- A+- She made me FEEL AMAZINGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG!!!! She made me and my girls look ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS! I have NEVER felt sooo stunning in my life! I had people go WHOAAAAAA!!!!!! My husband said I took his breath away!!!!! She is WORTH EVERY PENNY! I CANT RECOMMEND HER ENOUGH! SHES SOO TALENTED AND INCREDIBLE! Her assistant Teresa was INCREDIBLE as well and has a WONDERFUL personality!!!!!!
I have 2 small gripes about her, NOTHING To do with her talent or the work she does cause again OUT OF THIS WORLD!
1.She charged my mother and mother in law full price for styling when she BARELY touched their hair! And I mean BARELY! I actually pushed a lil on this one cause she told me $60 for blow dry for the mothers, I told her you didnt blow it dry, you didnt curl it, you sprayed some hair spray and ran your fingers in it, cant you do something for me. She said flat out thats the price for styling I cant do anything about it, the price is set!!!!!!!!! I WAS very annoyed as was my mother and mother in law especially! $60 for hair that I SWEAR she DIDNT do ANYTHING TO but spray a setting spray in!
2. I felt she was very unprofessional when she got there, she was on the phone for a good 15-20 minutes when she FIRST got to my house and while my mother and mother in law are trying to say hello, shes busy flapping on the phone and FLAT OUT didnt even pay them any mind because she was too busy on the phone. Shes walking into a home where she doesnt know anyone and thats your first impression on them. It was really just not nice AT ALL. She should have stayed in her car and when she was done with her call, then come and ring the bell. It was rude and very unprofessional to be quite honest.
She apologized said she had some personal issue that was pressing, something happened but she told me not to worry it wouldnt affect her the rest of the day, WHICH to her credit it DID NOT AT ALL EFFECT HER Work and she DIDNT get back on the phone Again, BUT she was not her usual bubbly self. She was very quiet, didnt talk much, didnt interact with us. And the reason this bothered me THIS much, because I understand she is allowed to have a life outside her business, she did this to my mother during her trial. She spent 20 minutes on the phone with someone because she had a pressing personal matter. Its just VERY unprofessional in my opinion.
Would I recomend her? ABSOLUTELY!!!!!!! Like I said she does INCREDIBLE WORK and I HAVE NEVER FELT SO BEAUTIFUL. Without a bridal suite I didnt touch up my makeup ALL NIGHT and I STILL looked good at the end of the night. My hair and makeup stayed put. And I danced ALL NIGHT and had a great time!
I went through 2 HORRIBLE trials before lucking out with M*I*A* and when I met with her she spent 3.5 hours with me, she was bubbly and full of personality. and like I said it DIDNT effect her at all so I wouldnt want that to make someone NOT book her but I wanted to be completely honest about my experience...
I WILL WRITE MORE ABOUT THE REST OF THE MY VENDORS when I have time! =))
UPDATE TO WM: Felicia called my husband back and apologized for not getting back to him sooner, she was on vaca and our letter was left on her desk. She mentioned that there was a record of an issue with the bustle of my dress (not clear though what kind of record she meant), she apologized for that, she said she was completely unaware about us not getting our bridal suite and that is COMPLETELY unacceptable. She said she is going to look into why that happened because the party before was WELL aware that they are not allowed to stay in the suite and have to leave immediately from it at the end of their party. The Maitr'ed should have had them taken out of there IMMEDIATELY and she is going to speak to her to find out why this happened. She was EXTREMELY nice and apologetic about the whole thing and offered us a gift certificate for dinner. So Im happy to at least say the situation was handled very professionaly and I feel somewhat better about it. As my husband told Felicia it was about not letting this ever happen to another bride/groom because it was very upsetting...
