RH Help

RH Help

Hello all!
My fiance and I are planning to get married in October of 2010 and don't know where to begin when it comes to RH shopping. We know we will probably have 150 guest or less and the last time we visited Chateau La Mer we love it and the food. However I don't want to limit myself to the one place. I have a friend who got married outdoors in October of 2008 in Queens so I guess it happened to be a really nice autumn day. If weather permits I would love to have an outdoor cocktail hour. Also I have to have a place with Grounds. Nothing that u just drive up to and there it is (ex. Floral Terrace).
So far from wensites and magazines I like CLM, The Inn at New Hyde Park, North Ritz Club... does anyone happen to know their rates for a Saturday or Sunday in October. Do these places let you try their food? First deposits?
Also my ceremony will proabably be in Queens. Is it unfair to ask people to drive to suffolk county if I happen to book CLM???

Re: RH Help

I dont think that is unfair I know a lot of people who do that. CLM is in Suffolk but it is western Suffolk, it's not like you asking them to go to the Vineyards out east. I can't help much with reception quotes for October but good luck planning and congrats!!

I don't think it's unfair at all. After all, it is your wedding, have it where you want and where you are happiest with! I can't help you with the quotes for October - but, I was quoted for a Saturday in May at the North Ritz Club for about $140 pp...

The Inn at New Hyde Park is expensive, I think a Saturday evening in October is about $175-$200pp

Nope.. not unfair at all. All 3 places you named are great. If you like CLM also check out Venetian Yacht Club.

Re: RH Help

Not unfair, no worries.
I see that your date right now is 10/10/10, I have to say from experience that alot of places are booking up like crazy right now for that day, so where ever you go to look try to make your decision soon. (I almost wasn't able to book with the limo company I wanted...He booked the entire day in under two weeks from when I had spoken to them!!) There is also a price markup for that date too, holiday weekend (columbus day) plus the date = more $ than a normal weekend. Figure you will be looking at $150-$200 for that sunday evening...$175-$225 for the saturday night 10/9
Good luck!!

I also don't think it's too much to ask to drive from Queens to CLM. My best friend got married in Valley Stream (pretty close to Queens) and then the reception was all the way out east at Villa Lombardi's! THAT was a long drive!

I don't know about pricing for CLM or the Inn at NHP, but like someone else said, North Ritz is $140pp for a Saturday night May through October.

That's about right. I was quoted $170 ++ for a Friday in November! It would have been mid 200s with tax and gratuity

Re: RH Help

also. just a heads up.. if your date is 10/10/10..I already had checked that date at The Inn @ new hyde park back in January and it was already booked. they told me that was the first date to go for 2010 and it was booked like months before I even checked.. that date was super popular and most places I checked were out of that date.. :( .. I did settle on 10/01/10.. cause I thought it was similar, lol...

Re: RH Help

All of those places are beautiful. As for other RHs...how about Eastwinds, Woodlands and some of the mansions? They have been giving good deals b/c of the economy.

Its nice that you are considering your guests, but it is your day. And isn't unfair. If someone is not going to go to your wedding b/c of the distance, they prob would have found another reason not to go. Those who mean something to you will go without question.

Advice...someone here told me I should negotiate a better price with an RH. If you don't get it, thank them and walk out. Most often than not, they will call you and work something out since they want your business.

Re: RH Help

Outdoor CH? Try the Swan club.....I am having a Sunday night wedding in their contessa room and our CH will be out in their patio which overlooks their gardens.

If you want more info, I can definitely share and I know AngeeM will be in the Garden Room (which would better for the # of guests you are having), you can probably ask her as well.

Good Luck!!

This is giving me a lot of insight. Thanks to all who replied!!! My date is definitely flexible because I figured 10/10/10 would be gone fast but I just got engaged two months ago and didn't want to jump into planning right away. Guess thats the price to have to pay for procrastination...lol. Yall are getting me nervous.

I just got engaged at the begining of the month and when I started thinking about dates I thought 10/10/10 would be awesome... until I went and checked out halls this past weekend and some of them wanted $20-$40 more per person for 10/10/10 than they did for a weekend before or after... I couldn't see paying more to feed people the same food at the same place just because of the date... and depending on the size of your wedding it can add up! So now we're going with 10/3. And you're right the date did go fast! The evening is booked at most places although some still have the afternoon....

NRC is the only one I can talk about... I dunno about october, but im a jan wedding so fm me if you want the quote I got. There are a few other 2010 brides so they may be closer to your date. We were not able to taste the food first, they don't do that, but when we went for our tasting it was amazing!! Fm me with any other questions...

As for driving from queens to suffolk. I would probably not go to a reception in Queens if I had to drive back to Suffolk a few hours later... JMO
