RH HELP PLEASSEE... with pictures (UPDATE ON PAGE 2)
Original post by MrsS4
Okay ladies I need a little help... well a lot of help && its a longgg readd so I will apologize in advance...
I am in love with a few different aspects of different halls & I am looking for one hall which has all of them in one---- please see the following pictures and explanations...
I am in love with Oheka's center hall staircase
but I can deal with the Glen Cove Mansion staircase as well...
The reason I will not have my reception at Oheka is due to the 1-crazy 20k site fee and another 300+ per head for a Saturday night May/June wedding--If I cut down my guests to 175 I will still be looking at a $72,500 RH price--- and thats crazy....I also have heard some unpleasant things about them as well ----- either way the grounds are stunning & I am in love with the staircases--- soooo I am in search for similar staircases-- we are willing to spend around $200 per person... the Glen Cove Mansion is pretty but it reminds me a little much of a hugee house, their staircase is nice as well & I would have to say from what Ive seen it is somewhat comparable to Oheka's... I however do NOT like the flooring of their main room because it is not marble/granite, but plain hardwood.... that brings me to moree pictures...........
I love the Venetian Yacht Club's view & flooring...
I also love the marble flooring in Leonards...
sorry for the long post... but I am really beginning to get frustrated... I have noo idea where I want to have the wedding.. yes I have some time but I still want to have somewhat of an idea... My issues are as follows... I need some type of a similar staircase to the ones I posted above... I need gorgeous floors/ reception setting... we just began talking about a city wedding as well... but I really want nice grounds or room in front of the hall to take pictures... nothing Hotel oriented or look-alike unless it is in the city.. I think thats about it---(im sure its enough) I just dont know who to turn to but you guys for help--- if anyone can suggest anywhere that has one or more of what Im looking for I will be more than thankful... thank soo much ladies & again sorry for the long post---

VYC is beautiful! Russo's also has the flooring you like, but no grounds.

One of the Lessings facilities may work. Also check out East Wind, and Lombardi's on the Sound.

Lenoards has a beautiful staircase. I don't remember about the rooms/view.
If your looking for a RH with a great view, try Chateau Le Mer, the view of the water is amazing and the windows are huge (which i LOVED). They also do a yacht arrival seemed really nice and orignial.
Also, Jericho Terrace has a staircase (its outside though) overlooking a small waterfall that looks very similiar to the indoor staircase you posted. And it has beautiful marble floors!

I think leonards is the way to go...it has the marble flooring that you like and it also has a staircase similar to what you like, and the outside is lovely, here's some pics:

Wow...they all look so nice! I def agree with u that oheka is wayyyy overpriced! It looks so nice but it is not worth it to spend so much for one day!!!
As for VYC...I don't want to offend anyone on here but I didn't like it. Fm me for details.
Did u try Coindre Hall? I have not heard much about it but looks impressive! What about Atlantica...also looks so gorgeous!!!

I would go for the place that has the most gorgeous reception room. That is where you will be spending the most time. (And that's why I love Russo's!)

Re: RH HELP PLEASSEE... with pictures
okay ladies-- here is my honest opinion... first I honestly want to thank everyone who added to this thread and what I am about to say I really hope no one takes offense to...
I truly think that Leonards has what I want but after hearing my FMILs opinion on it I was ... my FSIL got married at the Surf Club (I had never heard of it) on the beach 2 years ago and when she was looking at halls, they went to Leonards & she said (please forgive me) 'it looked cheap and very commercialized, the carpets were ugly and the food was horrible'
soo I was like and I didnt know what to say... All I said was that the price was amazing (we are willing to pay around the $200pp) the pictures of the food were soo nicee, the outside is gorgeous & the floors are beautiful... HELP LADIES.... I haven't tasted the food yet & didnt see the main reception rooms but I have seen beautiful pictures....how do I counter these rejections-- was Leonards renovated in the past 3 years?
It is just hard because I am very picky-- I love Oheka... and then Leonards was my second pick...but after hearing this ... (2 weeks ago) I began to look for other options but I am just please help ladiess.... TIA sooo muchh
UPDATE TO THE UPDATE-- now looking into NYC reception halls,,, I really want a glamorous look anyone with suggestions please feel free to add them--- tia

I actually like the decor and carpets at Leonards, but people have different tastes. I and my family have been to many events there and have been more than happy with the food.
They have tastings on Saturdays at least once a month, so you may want to attend with FMIL and compare notes. Also, I HIGHLY recommend talking to Maurizio (the other Banquet Managers there are good, but Maurizio gets the best raves from other Leonards brides) before the food tasting and asking him questions.

in all honesty - YOU HAVE TO GO THERE & CHECK IT OUT YOURSELF!!!!! if you're simply looking online, at photos, listening to other people - ur not making a decision from your own heart. You have four top places....so go look at them silly! 4 is NOT a lot! as for Leonard's..from photos I think it's stunning..DH & i were really thinking of booking there - but as soon as we went to Jericho Terrace I KNEW it was 'our hall' and we actually cancelled the rest of our meetings. My SIL got married at VYC a few years back...the view is beautiful, but yes, the rest of it is simple. To each is own...if that's what your looking for then fabulous, but from everything else you wrote it seems like u're looking for something a bit more extravagant? again, GO LOOK SO YOU HAVE NO REGRETS! I've been to two weddings at Russo's on the Bay...while they have no grounds, the place is absolutely AMAZING. The food is out of this world, it's beautiful, and the staff is incredible. OMG THE FOOOOOD lol. so freakin' good! Also, in the one room - the bride and groom enter the reception in a REALLY cool way...the wall actually splits open, and a big moving staircase comes out! it was crazy lol. Glen Cove mansion & Oheka both are equally beautiful and amazing...but i've never been to either. Just seen photos & such. ANYWAYS, like i said - make appointments to go see each of them! You'll have a personal answer to all of your questions, you'll maybe get to taste some food, and you'll get good or bad vibes from the staff. Good luck!

i agree with jtgarsik. i was just going to ask if u have checked any of these places out bcuz u really cant tell from pics. i got married at the vyc and although the place is beautiful, the parking lot IS right in front and that place is kinda small. plus, they can have 2 events at a time so u may want to take that into consideration as well. and as for that pic, i LOVE it day honestly, it would have to be the exact same sunset for it to look like that :) cuz it sure as hell didnt look like that when i went to take a look at it on a BEAUTIFUL day in june.

Re: RH HELP PLEASSEE... with pictures (UPDATE ON PAGE 2)
I agree with the girls above. You definately have to go look at these places & do NOT bring anyone but your FH. Then when you narrow it down to like 1 or 2 places you can bring someone else in like your parents.
I looked at the VYC and it's beautiful BUT not very close to what the pictures show on the website. There is no fancy staircase.
You may want to consider also if you want to have wedding at a Rh that has other weddings at the same time as yours (VYC, Jericho Terrace & Leonards are just a few)
You might also want to look at East Wind (out in Riverhead - I think). My cousin got married there and they do have a beautiful staircase for pictures and nice grounds. Plus, I think it was in your price range for a Sat night wedding.
I don;t know much - but my biggest suggestion for you would be to look at the places yourself - just you and FH and remember that it is YOUR wedding & if you love a place than that is what matters.
You might also want to read reviews from other brides on this website- they can be really helpful.
Also - don't rush into anything! My philosophy is - if they don;t have a date you want - then it was not meant for you to get married there. There will ALWAYS be somewhere else.

Re: RH HELP PLEASSEE... with pictures (UPDATE ON PAGE 2)
i was also going to suggest glen island, as far as food goes they really are known to be one of the best but i see you dont want to because of location.
I agree with going to the places and tasting the food yourself. I would focus more on the room itself instead of the staircase bc the staircases are outside of the room and besides people walking by its not what they'll see the whole time.

Re: RH HELP PLEASSEE... with pictures (UPDATE ON PAGE 2)
Glen Island is in New Rochelle, which is literally 15 minutes from Queens. If your considering Surf Club they're about 10 minutes apart. I think Glen Island may have exactly what your looking for.
As far as Leonards, I havent been there in years, but it doesnt hurt to go take a look, and make the decision for yourself.
