RH HELP PLEASSEE... with pictures (UPDATE ON PAGE 2)

Original post by MrsS4

Okay ladies I need a little help... well a lot of help && its a longgg readd so I will apologize in advance...

I am in love with a few different aspects of different halls & I am looking for one hall which has all of them in one---- please see the following pictures and explanations...

I am in love with Oheka's center hall staircase

but I can deal with the Glen Cove Mansion staircase as well...

The reason I will not have my reception at Oheka is due to the 1-crazy 20k site fee and another 300+ per head for a Saturday night May/June wedding--If I cut down my guests to 175 I will still be looking at a $72,500 RH price--- and thats crazy....I also have heard some unpleasant things about them as well ----- either way the grounds are stunning & I am in love with the staircases--- soooo I am in search for similar staircases-- we are willing to spend around $200 per person... the Glen Cove Mansion is pretty but it reminds me a little much of a hugee house, their staircase is nice as well & I would have to say from what Ive seen it is somewhat comparable to Oheka's... I however do NOT like the flooring of their main room because it is not marble/granite, but plain hardwood.... that brings me to moree pictures...........

I love the Venetian Yacht Club's view & flooring...

I also love the marble flooring in Leonards...

sorry for the long post... but I am really beginning to get frustrated... I have noo idea where I want to have the wedding.. yes I have some time but I still want to have somewhat of an idea... My issues are as follows... I need some type of a similar staircase to the ones I posted above... I need gorgeous floors/ reception setting... we just began talking about a city wedding as well... but I really want nice grounds or room in front of the hall to take pictures... nothing Hotel oriented or look-alike unless it is in the city.. I think thats about it---(im sure its enough) I just dont know who to turn to but you guys for help--- if anyone can suggest anywhere that has one or more of what Im looking for I will be more than thankful... thank soo much ladies & again sorry for the long post---

Glen Island is in New Rochelle, which is literally 15 minutes from Queens. If your considering Surf Club they're about 10 minutes apart. I think Glen Island may have exactly what your looking for.

As far as Leonards, I havent been there in years, but it doesnt hurt to go take a look, and make the decision for yourself.

nothing is really catching my attention I think I will be doing my research on reception halls in NYC ... I really want something glamorous & the FH loves the city so if anyone has any suggestions in NYC-- please feel free to put them up heree!!!

ANother LI venue you should think of is the Crescent Beach Club in Bayville. Stunnning. About $200 per person per head if I remember correctly. Check out Oksana's review and HayleyandSteve's review.

If you're willing to go to brooklyn, I think you might like The Grand Prospect Hall.. Totally cheesy commercial but I think it might have all the elements you're looking for (grand staircase etc.)

You definitely have to see the places in person. I saw all 3 of the rh's you were talking about in your original post. I absolutely fell in love with the pictures of VYC, and I think I expected to see that when I walked in......my expectations were probably too high, so I was a bit disappointed. BUT, there's a bride here who just had her wedding there and seemed to be happy with everything.

Oheka, I agree has absolutely beautiful grounds....love the huge gate that opens up....love the dramatic look of the staircase, but in mho, the dinner room itself was nothing spectacular in the least. And while your guests might be awed by the grandeur of it on first impression, remember they're going to spend most of their time in the dinner room.

Leonard's, I think it's beautiful...it has that dramatic chandelier that you can see from outside. But I had my 8th grade dance there, and that's all I could think about the whole time I walked around.

So, again, strictly my opinion...but that's just it, everyone will have their own opinions...what they like and didn't like....including your fsil.........what's most important is that you and your fh love it.

FH and I saw like 25+ RH's before we chose one that we liked, that could accommodate us, and was fairly affordable.

I agree that you should go look at all of these places...whether you opt to go with a place in the city or in LI. You won't get a feel for what they are like until you actaully go there, get the tour and ask all the questions. You'll know when you've stepped into the right place.

Pics and reviews of places go but so far...it's easier to envision everything you want when you actaully go to the place.

my brother got married at the crescent beach club and it was absolutely beautiful. the food was outstanding and the setting couldnt be beat (if you like the beach setting) all their pictures were out on the beach and water. cocktail hour was on th ebecah with a steel drum band...such a great vibe.

like another poster said---all this looking online and viewing photos and talking to people is NOT going to help you

get off the computer----and get out there and look at the RHs yourself!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

remember everyone's tastes are NOT the same as yours. just because your FMIL doesn't like the way a place looks doesn't mean that you are going to have the same opinion.....same thing with food.

i really think you should go with your FH and look at the halls you have been considering yourself instead of just clicking around on some websites. its the best way to make a decision

Have you looked at the Royalton? Mansion, nice floors, grand staircase, 'library' cocktail room, outdoor areas, one wedding at a time..

That Venetian Yacht Club picture is misleading ... the bridge is not that close AT ALL!
