trying to make my mom part of the wedding by involving her in our choices but i think that was a bad move on my part... now she is forcing Leonards for our wedding venue ...

We took my parents to some. The one we wanted ending up being one of the ones they didn't go to, so we had to take them back.

once me and fh decided (not booked) on a RH then i took them to see it and they loved it! but your main concern should be that you and fh love it, otherwise i feel like you get too many opinions and itll just confuse you in the end

Most places I went with just FH, but if he had to work and couldn't go I would go with my mom and sometimes my FMIL. I know how you feel, my FMIL was pushing for Jericho Terrace, Its a beautiful place just not my style, and It was also important to me that the place did only one wedding at a time. You should remember this is your day and it should be just how you and FH want it.

I would initially just take FH to the RH's you want to visit and then narrow it down to which ones you really like. After that, I would as a courtesy ask the parents to come along when you feel you are ready to book and let them see the RH.

FH and I took my mom to most of the places. Like all the girls said, just be ready to stand your ground if you and FH like something your mom doesn't or visa versa.

FH and I went and looked at all the RH and then once we narrowed it down to our top 3 we took my parents back to help make the final choice.

FH and I were clueless about weddings so we took my mom. She totally was all about Leonards because of the price! I mean it was sooooooo cheap!!! But she knew I wasnt feelin it, so left it alone. When we made our final decision on halls it was Fh, me, my mom, Fmil, my grandma, and my two sisters!! We had a mob!!! But i was happy to see everyone agree on the place we loved. It made us feel better about our decision and I dont regret doing it that way.

i would say do the preliminary visits with you and fh, then when you actually see one or two that you want to decide between take your parents to help you decide!

Since DH & I now live off LI & upstate, we did a lot of virtual tours of places online together. But once we knew which one we wanted to book with my parents came with us.

I went alone, w. my mom, and mom/FH to different halls depending on the schedule. FH and my mom went together one Saturday and checked out Coral House, Garden City Hotel, Verdi's, Manor East.. Then w/ my mom alone we went to see a few in Queens like Antuns, Douglaston Manor, Westbury Manor, etc. I saw Leonards solo, then went back and booked w/ my mom.
I think going solo or w/ FH is best. The more people you bring along, the tougher it is to make a decision.

I only went with FH. At the end of the day its what you and FH love. I think you should stick with WM if you really like, its a beautiful place :) Plus you dont want to lose your deposit.

Our parents are paying for the RH so we took my mom and FMIL. My mom was fine but FMIL would just ask questions to things the owner already spoke about and it drove the owner crazy. FMIL was also putting pressure on me and my mom to book the hall, which was frustrating because I wanted my dad to see the hall and the prices before booking. So you just need patience if you're taking your parents with you on RH visits.
But we had to include them, we didn't think it would be right to book a hall that they would have to pay for without seeing it.
