Re: Rice Krispie Treats

Oooh. Add chocolate chips too...yummy! And use a spoon you can throw out!

T, pour the mixture into a glass baking dish, or any kind of dish that cools quickly. Don't use a metal pan for this.

Just put them in a square pan and mush them with a spatula.....let them cool and then cut.

the smaller the pan the moister they are IMO...use like an 8x8 or 9x9 pan...

Re: Rice Krispie Treats

here's the official recipe:

3 tablespoons margarine or butter
1 package (10 oz.) regular marshmallows or 4 cups miniature marshmallows
6 cups KELLOGG'S® RICE KRISPIES® cereal
or KELLOGG'S® COCOA KRISPIES® cereal

1. In a large microwave-safe bowl, heat margarine and marshmallows on HIGH for 3 minutes, stirring after 2 minutes. Stir until smooth.

2. Add KELLOGG'S RICE KRISPIES cereal. Stir until well coated.

3. Using a buttered spatula or waxed paper, press mixture evenly into 13 x 9 x 2-inch pan coated with cooking spray. Cut into 2-inch squares when cool. Best if served the same day.

Re: Rice Krispie Treats

There is a similar recipe using honey and nut cheerios, raisins and nuts. Does anyone tried it? I lost the recipe years ago, but it is so good.

Re: Rice Krispie Treats

a twist from Martha Stewart

Makes 9
A twist on an old favorite, this recipe combines two kinds of sweet cereals with Rice Krispies. These squares are perfect as after-school snacks.

9 tablespoons unsalted butter
1 teaspoon salt
12 cups (2 1/2 bags) miniature marshmallows
6 cups Rice Krispies cereal
6 cups Cap'n Crunch cereal
6 cups Froot Loops cereal
Vegetable-oil cooking spray

1. Lightly spray a 9-by-9-by-2-inch baking pan with vegetable-oil cooking spray; set aside. Melt butter in a large pot over medium heat. Add salt and marshmallows; stir with a wooden spoon until melted. Remove from heat. Add Rice Krispies, Cap'n Crunch, and Froot Loops, and stir until combined.

2. Transfer the mixture to the prepared pan. To prevent sticking, coat your hands with vegetable spray, and press the mixture evenly into the pan. Let cool, about 30 minutes.

3. Cut into 3-by-3-inch bars. Store in an airtight container for up to 3 days.

I tried making them once with fruity pebbles. They were way too SWEET. Couldn't even eat them

Re: Rice Krispie Treats

Leave it to Martha to take an otherwise simple and perfect classic recipe.....and try to make it foo foo and her own! I'm surprised she didn't say 'add a sprig of fresh mint, and knit your own doily to serve it on!'

Re: Rice Krispie Treats

I think the rice krispie box has a recipe on it.

Use a spatula, I tried once without one and it was a mess.

I love rice krispie treats!! Yummy!

Re: Rice Krispie Treats

You can actually use the original Rice Krispies recipe, but substitute any cereal.

I've found it's also good with:
Special K or Corn Flakes (but not frosted flakes - too sweet!)
Any kind of Cheerios
Mixed cereals that have flakes w/fruit or nuts are great because it gives it some variety, or you can use the Special K or Corn Flakes and add to it.

My favorite add-ins:
Chocolate chips or M&Ms
Dried pineapple chunks or berries
Raisins
Crushed nuts - almonds, peanuts, etc
If you add in stuff though, subtract some of the cereal or it will be too dry.
