Re: ring advice
What do you mean you sent it in? you left your e-ring with the jeweler? you are braver than me!
you just reminded me... I need to do that as well... I've had it for 10 months and want to make sure the prongs are nice and secure

Re: ring advice
I have to bring it in every 6 months for inspection so that the warranty on it stays active. But I don't leave my ring, they do it right there.

Re: ring advice
i go every 4 months and they clean it there while i wait, but right before the wedding they told me it needed to be sent out for a better cleaning, so i told them i wont give it up til i have another one on my finger
and OMG WHAT A DIFFERENCE!
it is part of the warranty, every 2 years it gets sent out

Not to sound too untrusting - but I would ask that when your ring comes back to have them let you look through their microscope to make sure the number inside your ring is the number that's on the certifying card your FH should have gotten when he bought the ring.

Re: ring advice
My ring was too small when DH got it, so I had to have it resized but they send it out for that. Even the jewleler suggested when I come back I bring the card with me so I can confirm it's the same stone.
There are horror stories out there of places that will switch the stone on you.
Better to be safe then sorry.

My jeweler has been around for years...very reputable too... They would never let me step away from my diamond or any jewel... They too feel that's unheard of.
No one is saying your jeweler is going to scam you Nicole. It's just some of us aren't as trusting as you...I know I'm not.

Ok...I'm going home... Long day...I guess I'm a little different...my diamond is my Mom's. Non replaceable. So...there is no card no numbers..no way for me to trace it...
I'll abort this thread because obviously I'm out of the loop.

Re: ring advice
Just a question...how often should your ring(s) be checked? I get mine steamed at my local jeweler every now and then and had both rings polished recently--but how often do prongs and things need to be checked? Also, mine has never been sent out. What do they do? (sorry, lotsa ?s!)

I have my ring cleaned regularly and the diamond and setting checked every 6 months - it should be to continue the coverage provided by the jeweler.
I had it sent out once to have it rhodiumed. It faded again quickly after so I had the band switched to a platinum one.
