I want to get my ring cleaned before the wedding.Does anyone recommend any place?
I live in Nassau County so somewhere not to far.
Also that's something they do on the spot? I dont have to leave my ring or anything right?

Ring Cleaning
I got my ring cleaned & sized at Gennaro Jewelers in Bellmore. I went on a Saturday & they were able to do it right away & the ring was in my sight the entire time. I totally recommend them

Ring Cleaning
I usually go to te jeweler we got the ring from and they clean it whenever I ask (usually once a week since I live around the corner =P). I also clean it myself using windex and a soft bristle toothbrush and it comes out just as nice. I'll probably have it redipped before the wedding so it's extra super shiny =D

THIS!! I got my engagement ring from them and have been going to them my whole life and my family as well. Your ring doesn't go out of your sight for a second! I cant wait to get my wedding band from them!

Ring Cleaning
Try going to where your FH bought your ring. They'll most likely clean it for free. That's what I do with mine, and having it dipped is free also if you purchased the warranty.

Ring Cleaning
My future MIL loves Gennaro (and I'm sure they love her too-- that woman loves jewelry!) FH looked there but they just didn't have anything he knew I'd like, so he ended up elsewhere-- at HL Gross. But you can also clean your ring with vinegar and baking soda-- if you google you can get some tutorials.

Ring Cleaning
Why don't you take it to where it was purchased? I really wouldn't ever trust taking my ring to any jeweler except the one we got it from...I'm too paranoid. In between jeweler cleanings, every week I soak my ring in super hot water and ammonia, then scrub, then re-soak. The ammonia works perfectly for platinum, but I think it's supposed to be damaging to WG.

Can I ask a dumb question? What does it mean to have your ring re-dipped?

Not dumb at all! I had the same question lol. Basically, white gold is not a natural metal. It's yellow gold dipped in a white 'gold' substance I guess to give it that. If your ring is white gold, it'll start to get scratched-looking, so it does have to be redipped once in a while to get that shine back.

Re: Ring Cleaning
White Gold and Sterling Silver actually have Rhodium over the gold/silver metals to give it that shine (and make the gold white). I've noticed it tends to fade the more you wear jewelry in water, even washing my hands, although all metals can turn.

It's actually not just yellow gold dipped in a substance. White gold is an alloy with gold in it (which is yellow), so depending on the amount of gold (14k, 18k), the more yellowish it'll be. Then it's dipped in rhodium to give it the white, shiny finish. Eventually the rhodium wears off and the ring will start to look dull. I already got mine redipped for engagement pics and the difference is amazing! Looks like a brand new ring!!

Ring Cleaning
I recommend H.L. Gross in Garden City, any of the London Jewelers locations or Libutti or Frassanito which are both in Huntington to get your rings cleaned. If not you should bring it back to where your fiancé bought your ring and ask them to do it for you.Welcome New Vendors
