most insurance offers 100% coverage no matter what happens (lost, stolen, damaged, etc.) ... but .. they do make it very hard to put a claim on that (obviously to deter scammers) - so keep as much info on the ring as possible.

I got mine through State Farm - it cost about $100/ year.

They usually give 100% of what the appraisal is....I think it is definitely worth getting just to have piece of mind.

it depends on the insurance. mine is a full replacement of the same quality, not necessarily a dollar amount.

Mine is under our homeowner's insurance and it's covered for anything and everything possible.

I heard Chubb Group is the best (and prob most expensive).

I know carolinebr had horrible problems with MetLife and they didn't pay her claim and she had to hire a lawyer.

I have mine on my home insurance which is with Geico. You need to get the ring appraised first, then that value is what goes on the insurance. So, yes the full value (if not more) should be covered...

hi! i have chubb insurance on my ring and it's not too bad $ wise. i think we pay about $250/yr. the reason we went with chubb and not with other insurance companies is b/c they issue you a check for a ring that is stolen, lost, damaged, etc whereas other companies make you work with their affiliated jeweler to find an 'appropriate' replacement. i looked it up on the knot b4 we insured and they had tons of great tips about questions to ask the insurance rep.

I would say get the insurance! I can't remember the company I insured through...I think it's jewelryinsurance.com or something like that! I'll look for it. It was only $140 for the year and my ring is covered for everything! I don't know if it's true, but I know a lot of people have it under homeowner insurance, but the agency I went through (plus my jeweler) told me sometimes insurance agencies play games and might not cover everything. Or they will make you go through their jewelers to get a new one and not through your own jeweler.

My jeweler and the jewelry judge recommended the company i went through.

FBIL's fiance lost her engagement ring, and since it was appraised significantly higher, she actually got a nicer replacement (although, IMO, still not the same as the first one which would crush me)

I have to get it still, but I think its worth it.

My car ins co doesnt do personal property so they recommended jewelers mutual. The price depends on your county and its something like $1.80/per $100 of the value per year for Nassau. Suffolk is probably similar.
