FH and I are in the process of booking our honeymoon (yay!) and while planning I got to thinking -- should I bring my engagement ring and wedding band on the trip??
We're going to Bali and while part of me can't imagine going on my HM without my rings, the other part of me thinks I would be crazy to bring them and risk losing them! A good friend of mine bought a cheap plain silver band that she wears when she travels and I thought I might do something like that.
What are you gals doing? Are you bringing your wedding rings on your HM?

I agree, of course my rings are insured, but its the sentimental value that counts. I cant imagine losing it or having it stolen... I dont want to be worrying about that on my honeymoon especially when we'll be zip lining and swimming ect. Therefore, I will be bringing my fake set and leaving the real jewels at home in our safe =)
I dont think its fair to say its silly. Everyone has a right to feel a certain way about it.

I plan to wear my actual rings on the HM. I've been on vacations with my e-ring (even on a cruise ship) and it's been fine. You can always leave in the safe in your room if you don't feel comfortable wearing it in the pool or the water.

as much as I HATE to say it....i w ill also probably be buying a fake set. Like many of you girls, I am so emotionally attached to my ring, I literally could feel myself holding back tears when they wanted to take my ring for a week to replace a stone. Lame I know.
But I would be devastated if it was lost or stolen, so it's worth it!

ETA: my ring is ensured, and we'll most likely ensure my eternity band as well. I think EVERYONE should do this. Yes, it's an additional expense, but such a small price to pay to secure something that is so precious!

I;ve been to trips with my Ering and nothing happen (thank God)... I;ve been to the Beach TONS of times, to water parks, to many places & I still have it...
I dont see how I could enjoy our First trip as Husband & Wife & leave our rings behind...

i feel this way too! I can't imagine not wearing them on our honeymoon but at the same time i don't want to lose it or have it stolen out of the safe in the hotel. I've worn my ring on all my vacations and have left it in the room, but never for such a long period of time and I'm afraid something will happen to it. Ugh I'm so torn!

My rings are insured too, but the sentimental value cannot be replaced. It's a big risk taking them on and off, leaving them in a room even if there's a safe, having them on at the beach, on excursions... just not worth it to me to take a chance for 10 days with something I want to keep the rest of my life. They aren't disposable to me, once they gone IC an't get them back and I don't want something new, I want the ring FH gave to me the day he asked me to be his wife, and I want the ring that was put on my finger when FH promised to love me forever while the priest and my parents and all my friends and family watched. And I don't think it's fair to say it's silly. You don't feel the same, and that's fine, but no one's saying anything about your opinion in an exasperated or irritated or annoyed tone.

i totally agree with this.
FH proposed to me on a cruise. in the middle of the atlantic ocean. with no insurance.
I can't fathom leaving my ring home!! I want to wear it all the time, and i definitely want to show off the fact that i'm married on my honeymoon!

I can't fathom not having my rings on my HM! My e-ring is pretty tight, and I'm getting the band sized before the wedding, so I'll see how snug it is. I probably won't wear it on excursions, snorkeling and stuff, it should be fine in the in room safe. Someone could steal it from my home just as easily if it's not on my finger. For work I have a fake set. I'm an RN and constantly wearing and removing gloves, washing my hands, and using hand sanitizer which gunks up a ring quick. But laying on a beach and having cocktails??? It will be fine!

We bought fake sets from overstock.com. We are not taking any chances. They are insured, but you never know. We are doing alot of physical activities....like zip lining and such.

I already have a fake set that I bought at JCPenney ages ago (just because I liked the look). I couldn't bring my real rings - if anything happened to them I'd be heartbroken which would lead to a horrible rest of the honeymoon too.

since FH brought my ring to DR to propose and i wore it there EVERY day in the water and wherever, i'm bringing my rings with me to aruba and stick them in the safe.
my mom brings hers there as well. they are like a gazzillion carats and she just leaves them locked in the safe. if they haven't taken hers, believe me, mine aren't going anywhere.

I wore my rings on the HM. BUT put them in the safe when we did anything water related. I did not want to leave them behind. And everything was safe and sound every time we returned to our room. HTH!!

my sister got a nice fake set from macy's.
I'm so used to wearing me e-ring everytwhere since I've had it for over 7 years I've gotten over the protective instinct, but my wedding band will be an irreplaceable heirloom and for that reason I'm going to buy a plain white gold band to wear when I travel or go on the subway, or do gardening, etc. My e-ring and wedding band are platinum, but I think for this purpose the white gold should be fine
