I wish the Harbor Club would invest in some new chairs!! their chairs are probably the ugliest chairs I have ever seen in my life! and they dont offer chair covers so I have to pay to cover their hideous chairs! so i understand your excitement! lol

FH and I met with Mary a couple of nights ago and she said they are replacing the chairs in both rooms..... I like the chairs in the main room but I am assuming these will be better I think those tapestries are God awful as well!! What are you doing to cover them up?

Re: Riviera Brides

I called there when you originally posted this and they said they are getting chairs a lot like whats in there now only gold... I'm trying to picture what that would look like. I hope theirs not big ugly flowers on the new chairs. And they are changing the chairs in the main room too?? I hope they dont replace the chavary's i would be SO upset.

Would someone maybe try to call and get more info? I feel like when I call their they arent always very nice (which to be honest scares me a lot ...)

I still have no clue what to do about those freaking tapistries. the 'theme' or 'look' of our wedding is Southern Vintage so I was thinking about maybe getting some kind of floral fabric to drape over them. I just dont know how to do it without it looking bad. We have a wedding planner and i told her that has to be her mission... to figure that sutuation out. FH thinks im crazy for stressing about it so bad. haha

Re: Riviera Brides

Let me know if you get anywhere with creative tapestry solutions! We just booked at Riviera and that is definitely something I'd prefer not to have in ohhh any of the rooms at all.

I don't know if you tried to take them off at all, but behind them is just like plain wood instead of a continuation of the brick! Super bummer...so no clue how to get around them or what you could even cover them with so it didn't just look like random decor over a tapestry.

Any pics of the new chairs from brides having their weddings coming up would be awesome too! We decided not to go with the chair covers since the chairs kinda go with the feel of the room...hopefully the new ones still look good!

Does anyone know about the chair situation? I'm really curious about what the new ones look like. Also please please please tell me they didn't get rid of the chiavari's in the main room. I would seriously cry.

I have no ideas for the tapostries yet. They get all in a tizzy if you ask them about taking them down, so I'm going to have to cover them somehow. im trying to figure out how to cover them with fabric. as soon as i figure it out i will let you know!

Crashing! Just got married there on Sat! The new chairs in the cocktail hour room are better than the old ones, but still nothing special in my opinion. They are wooden backs (not chivari though) and have tan cushions with light pink flowers on them. A VAST improvement over the old ones, but personally I thought plain chairs would have been the best. I don't have any pictures yet but if I get some I will post for you.

Also, they definitely did not get rid of the chivari chairs in the dining room, and they also added an awesome little waterfall feature in the outside ceremony area.

As for the tapestries, there is really nothing you can do with them. They wouldn't let us take those fake flowers off the fireplace either. You just have to suck it up I think. I hated them too, but I barely noticed them on the big day, and I doubt anyone else did either.

PS- I do have some non pro pics in my album if anyone wants to see them. Not of the chairs, but of lots of random things!

Thank you so much for giving us an update! Your wedding looks like it was BEAUTIFUL! I love your dress!!

I dont understand why they didn't just get Chavari Chairs in the cocktail room, they are so much more elegant! gr.

Also, they didnt let you take down the fake flowers?? I was told we could pay to have them taken down!!! grrrr. Seriously WHO thinks fake flowers look nice!

I'm glad to hear that stuff didn't bother you on the day of. i guess when the day comes you too happy to worry about little stuff like that! Did you enjoy the overall experience with them on your wedding day?

Awesome about the chairs...bummer about the tapestries. But you're probably right about not even noticing them the day of.

I was looking through your pics and everything looks great! So happy to hear you had a wonderful day! (:

Wondering how you felt about your menu selection...any choices you LOVED or would've changed? We're thinking pretty much the same entrees so it would be great to hear how you liked everything!

I know, I thought the same thing about everything. Chivari chairs would have been perfect in CH! And those stupid fake flowers. UGH. But honestly, NO ONE noticed them, and I got SOO many compliments on how pretty the place was!

The overall experience with them was great. Paul was the Maitre'D and he was great, he made sure we had everything we needed. He and my DJ could have communicated more about when dinner was coming out, but that was no big deal. My bridal attendant was Jaqueline and she was AWESOME. The food there was amazing, everyone is still raving about it. You girls have nothing to worry about

THANK YOU!

I LOVED the filet and the Chicken Princess! We also had the pork chop and the mahi-mahi. The pork chop was good, but pork chops aren't my fave to begin with so I'm a little biased. The mahi-mahi, I personally didn't care for the Creole sauce, but my guests who had it RAVED about it.

I'd have to say the biggest hit at CH was the lamb chops and the sushi boats. The lamb chops were not one of our original choices, but once we had them at our tasting, we had to have them. I have two italian 'uncles' who own restaurants and they were absolutely raving about those lamb chops. I also loved the calamari, it was delish! We added on the mashed potato station too, but I didn't get to try it. And for desserts, the biggest hits were the ice cream bar and the chocolate fountain.

But if you have any particular questions, feel free to FM me any time!

Re: Riviera Brides

I'm considering booking our wedding at the Riviera and I agree with you girls about the tapestries and the fake flowers!!! I've been stalking photographer's blogs for wedding photos from the Riviera to see what the room photographs like, and in the pictures I've seen the tapestries don't look too awful. I'm hoping for the best with them both - maybe they'll decide to take down the fake flowers between now and then!

Re: Riviera Brides

I, too, just got married there this past weekend and had what can now go down in history as the best day of my life!

I can't speak much about the entrees b/c I'm not really a huge food critic, but I had a little of each dish (filet mignon, sea bass, duck, and chicken princess) and thought they were all great!

The biggest hit, by far, was the lobster bar we got at the cocktail hour. People could not get enough of it!

As for the other details such as chair coverings and fake flowers... I have to say I didn't even give them a second thought on the day of our wedding. The room looked AMAZING - fake flowers and all! :-P

Besides, people spent way more time enjoying the views outside than critiquing the interior. Seriously, having our wedding at the Riviera was the best choice we could have made - it was everything we had hoped for... and more!
