I have narrowed our honeymoon choices down to two resorts and was hoping for some input from anyone who has been to either one. It's between the Valentin Imperial and the Excellence Riviera Cancun.....any input is appreciated!!!

Re: Riviera Maya - Resort choices!!
Yes, both resorts seem to have an abundance of positive reviews and a few poor reviews....so that's making it even harder for us to decide!!! That's why I was hoping someone would have first hand feedback on them.

Re: Riviera Maya - Resort choices!!
We went to Riviera Maya - Excellence and loved it. The food was good for an all inclusive. If I were to see the restaurant names I would be able to pick out our favorites. I cant remember if they worked on a reservation system or wait. I remember being content with the choices. The pools were awesome. They had these great hammocks. – see pic. We kind of like to hide away from everyone.. and the resort when we went was not packed at all. I love the no kids policy. I love that every room had a jacuzzi on the balcony AND in the room. FH and I would go from the pool to the outside jacuzzi to dinner and then at night jacuzzi in the room. They have free porn in the room (lol). They have these secret little compartments so when food is delivered they put it in the compartment and you open it from inside your room - kinda goes with the whole don't interrupt us theme. The shows at night were nice. Like most honeymoon couples type places the night life is always a little drap because everyone retreats at least that has been my experience at places like Excellence in DR, Sandals and St. Lucia. I'll see if I can post pics. The one thing which was fine for us bc we spent the majority of our time at the pools (they have fresh water and salt water) was the water is rough and not the typical clear see to the bottom kind of water you would expect for Mexico - I guess it is where they are located. Service was great. They came to us none stop for drinks by the pool. The rooms were clean, and very pretty. ummmmm... FM for more details. We also went with the upgrade package (for the life of me I cannot remember) it gave you access to another pool and a separate part of the hotels. Honestly, that pool and that area were more crowded the other 3 pools so I did not think it was worth it - personally. We loved it so much that last year we went to Excellence in Dominican Republic which did not compare to Excellence. PS They used to be known as just secrets now I think they are Secrets Excellence or vice a versa... :)
P.S. What were some of the negatives you read? Just curious - FM me - I'll be honest.
we stayed at the ERC this past July and loved everything about it. Most of the reviews of it on tripadvisor.com are very good. But we had a great time and loved every minute there. Every inch of the hotel property was beautiful and immaculately taken care of, the service was great, and the food was delicious. I would definitely recommend it to anyone. Check out my pics from our stay there in my albums!
