Re: RK bridal & Designer Loft
My negative experience with Olga stemmed from the fact I reccomended my MOH to go there as she is getting married 3 weeks after I am. Olga helped her as Glinda was not there and she actually took dresses OUT of her hand and told her (I was standing right there waiting for my try-on) 'Oh no this dress is not for you.' We asked why we couldn't just try it and she , I kid you not, sucked her teeth and rolled her eyes and said, 'well fine if youdon't want to trust me who has been doing this for so long, fine.' Mind you we didn't turn away anything she suggested-we just wanted to try on a style we felt would be more flattering (and which WAS because its the style of THE dress we bought for her at an upscale shop in NJ. (Park Avenue Bridals. They are pricey but SOOOOO professional there-loved Jennie.)
Maybe she was having an 'off day.' We all have them, but I will say this... We ended up hanging around while we were waiting for my BMs to try on their dresses and could see her with new clients. She was NICE AS PIE to the girls, who, and this will sound racist, but i will say it anyway, were white. She totally kissed their azzes and they were not askign anythign differently than we were. We were so angry we were tempted to go to the manager but didn't bother. And in case anyone think i am making this up, two of the salesgirls there, actually said that they have seen several cases where their lghter skinned clients were treated better by certain sales associates, but they would not name names. Just gave us 'the hint-hint' look.
I also had an issue with the manager about my own dress. I sent them a fax with a color change and they claimed never to recieve it. I like a fool didnt save a copy because I had called before I sent it and the girl who answered said if they did not receive the fax, they would call me back-I gave my number. That was stupid of me, I admit it, BUT they didn't even get me a new dress! It came in in three weeks(instead of the supposed 4 months), AND was STAINED and they wanted to 'clean it' instead off giving me a new dress!
When i mentioned the color, they wanted to charge me 100 dollars to change it and my issue was, if they have to order me a brand new dress ANYWAY, why can't they just make it the right color of ivory?
The assistant manager was terrible and rude and it was actually one of the same salesgirls who spoke to me and my friend about the preferential treatment issuem who told me to go over her head and speak to the manager because she tended to be rude to 'certain clients' and she tapped her arm, indicating her skin. She told me to call my credit card company to show I had backing and then approach the manager.
I was appalled but sure enough when I calmly wiped my face of tears and called my credit card company who happily aggreed to fight the charges, the manager sung a TOTALLY diff tune. All of a sudden he was accomodating where he had started belligerent, and he 'took care of it' and acted so proud of hismelf as if he had done ME a favor, when he could have done it the whole time. I just smiled and said, 'Credit card company thanks you for saving them a hassle,' and left.
-shrugs- I bought my dress from there so I reccomend them to others because their prices cannot be beat. All I am saying is that some of my personal experiences with them have been iffy and I was dissapointed because my friend had the worst time and we are not picky people-we are the type who always tip way better than is required, who greet our bus drivers every morning and try to be generally pleasant.
Like i said, my own experiences. Great prices but I prefer to just get in and get out. The alteration department though, is WONDERFUl. Everyone is very sweet and accomodating there. You have to contact them seperately from the store though they are in-store.
