NEED MORE PICTURES OF CAKE PLEASE!!!

Re: Rolling Pin Bakery

their cakes are amazing .. we used them... we did vanilla cake with a layer of choc mousse and layer of cannoli with chips in each piece---- can't go wrong with the bakery..... so you know they don't do a typical tasting where you go in and it takes time.. you get three pieces to pick up for free and then it is $3 for additional samples but you tell them the day and time you want your samples and you just pick them up and take them home

ETA sorry, just reread the post and saw that you are unable to eat sugar.... i didn't try the chocolate but cannoli was awesome

I don't eat chocolate cake so I can't tell you how it is. Vanilla cake was good. Was not a fan of the marble cake.

I love cannoli but was not a fan of there's. I loved the white mousse filling and that's what I ended up picking. Red velvet cake and cream cheese was good also.

My aunt has purchased numerous cakes from them and never had a complaint.

I dealt with Renee at the Bay Shore store very nice and helpful.

Good Luck!!!

What was it about the cannoli that you didn't like?

Another bride just texted me to tell me the chocolate was very dry

Everyone is going to have their own opinions when it comes to the cake. Not everyone likes the same flavors. I would not go with the chocolate cake. We tried two different ones and it was very dry. We loved the vanilla cake. As far as fillings, it all goes by what you like.

I thought there cakes were very dry..other people have raved about them so its definately going to be up to your own person taste

Re: Rolling Pin Bakery

we just did the 6 tastings that you can order from their website (all in vanilla except the red velvet) and found all to be dry, and the red velvet was very dry. In their defense it could be that they were very small cakes and FMIL (who use to bake wedding cakes) said it is very hard to regulate the temp on such small cakes. I've been to weddings were their cakes were served and had no complaints from what I've tasted then. I brought the left over tasting to work the following day for more opinions and not one person liked any of them.

Did you notice the chocolate to be drier than vanilla? Did any one taste remotely better than the other?

When you went to weddings, do you remember the flavor?

This is getting crazy!!

I would like to know if anyone actually ordered the chocolate and how it came out....

This is terrible that I have to even be concerned that the cake might not taste good.......

Re: Rolling Pin Bakery

sorry, no chocolate, we're not chocolate fans. I believe my friend had vanilla with chocolate pudding which was good and the other was vanilla with strawberry filling, also good. Maybe order a tasting and have others try it for you? I would but I don't like chocolate

Re: Rolling Pin Bakery

After much deliberation, I read several positive reviews on wedding wire

I'm going with the vanilla cake... cannoli cream w/ chocolate chips and a layer of white chocolate mousse.

I assume he will allow us to taste this cake before the wedding...just to make sure.

Did it taste good at the 'tasting' though or only the day of?

Did you girls have to pay to taste? I'm being told that I have to order them online and pay for them. Especially seeing all the negative reviews of the samples, I wouldn't want to pay for them. It seems the cakes get great reviews on the day of only.

Re: Rolling Pin Bakery

i did the samples and I did not find them to be dry at all.

I did the cupcakes as well as 2 mini cakes
I had chocolate cake with cannoli and chocolate cake with strawberry filling. I was not a fan of their cannoli filling, it felt like it was missing something.

i also heard mixed reviews on their cakes, but fh and i thought they were really good, except for their red velvet.

If I were you, I would wait until january or february and taste the cake, we tasted our cake and chose the flavor a month before, you have plenty of time...its really a personal preference, as you can see from the reviews

day of wedding we did yellow cake with lemon and raspberry filling, it was soooo yum!

Mmmmm Lemon and Raspberry, sounds nice! It's not something I normally would choose but if you're saying the cannoli isn't great.... I might reconsider. We are having a chocolate fountain so that will help those people who love chocolate if I got the yellow cake with lemon & raspberry. My Italian family is going to want the cannoli but I would hate for it to be a disappointment.

I had the chocolate cake with canoli filling for my mom's 60th birthday party and it was awesome! Best bakery cake I've had.

I wasn't a fan of any of the cake/flavor combos when we did our tasting with those small cakes.

Vanilla was the best though, choc in my opinion was no good.

We had vanilla cake with cannoli and raspberry at the wedding and it was AMAZING!!! everyone raved and i ate it every night for the next week (dont judge me lol )
