It had a strange taste to it. The marble cake was dry.

I wasn't a fan of any of the cake/flavor combos when we did our tasting with those small cakes.
Vanilla was the best though, choc in my opinion was no good.
We had vanilla cake with cannoli and raspberry at the wedding and it was AMAZING!!! everyone raved and i ate it every night for the next week (dont judge me lol )
Hehehe it was that good huh?
So you did a layer of raspberry and a layer of cannoli right on top? Not two separate tiers one with raspberry and the other with cannoli?
It sounds unusual to mix raspberry with cannoli but at the same time it sounds good!
My FH doesn't like the lemon and raspberry idea...he doesn't like lemon so now we're back to cannoli again!!

I thought the same thing but a LIW 2010 bride (one of my BM's) said she had that combo through rolling pin and it was amazing so we tried it and it was the best thing EVER! They really wont start planning your cake with you until like 90-60 days out from your wedding but you always have the opportunity to atleast go in and order some of the small sample cakes to take home.

I didnt have canonli but the chocolate cake was AMAZING. Seriously, so good.
Did it taste good at the 'tasting' though or only the day of?
Did you girls have to pay to taste? I'm being told that I have to order them online and pay for them. Especially seeing all the negative reviews of the samples, I wouldn't want to pay for them. It seems the cakes get great reviews on the day of only.
The day of cake was much better then the sample. I wouldn't recommend the red velvet though - the sample was terrible. I ordered a red velvet grooms cake through another bakery.

Shea, what flavors did you have? Did you provide those broaches for the bows?

I didn't pay extra for anything
You must have a different package because I've never seen that cake on the website!

Not a different package, you don't have to choose an exact cake off the website. I told them what i wanted sent him a sample picture and they did it for me.

Rolling Pin/ Venetian Yacht Club
I still can't decide on a cake. I want one of the upgrades but don't want to pay $695 for it.
Does anyone from VYC know if the venue provides the cake stand? Also, can you use their cake server? I would rather not spend $$ on this.
If anyone else has picture of cake from Rolling Pin, please post.
