Re: Romantic Dinner

when i want to cook dinner for DH for something special i usually make him
Filet mingnon, and a lobster tail, with drawn butter and cream spinach, garlic roasted mashed potatoes are our favorite!! i think i may have to make that for dinner this weekend!! i make garlic bread from scratch, and sometimes i tell him not to eat lunch and for an appetizer i make king crab legs (if im in the mood and the lobster tails are small i make the legs to go with the dinner)

edited to say that when i mean if im in the mood i meant to cook it (im VERY allergic to fish!! LOL)

Re: Romantic Dinner

I second the lobster tails. They are pretty easy to make and a lot less work than whole lobsters (less of a mess, too). Men love their surf & turf!!!

Re: Romantic Dinner

hahaha, sorry!! I forman grill the filet, (dont close the cover and just flip it .. it wont dry out the meat that way) i marinate the filet in all sorts of spices for DH like montery season, garlic powder, italian seasoning, i get the lobster tail and either i have them steam it right there at the store and then i bring it home and heat it in the oven for only about 5-7 minutes but you have to make sure it doesnt get over cooked... if you want to do it your self just steam them for about 10 minutes depending on the size. cream spinach is not my favorite so i buy it frozen at the super market and make it, i add a little cheese to get it to a thicker consistency... the garlic mashed, i make the mashed from scratch, all the while i have been roasting garlic in in the oven (this takes about 45 minutes) then i mix in the soft garlic into the pan while i am whipping the potatoes.. you can put an extra clove of garlic in the oven and let it roast and use the fresh garlic to smear on to the itlaian bread, or i take the fresh raw garlic and chopp it finely sprinkle it all over the bread then put slices of butter all over the bread then bake it at 350 for about 10-20 minutes i like it crunchy so i leave it in 20... any questions?

Re: Romantic Dinner

I made lobster tails a few months ago, and honestly, I think I just put them in the oven at like 350 or something. Can't really remember. Ask the fish-market person. They're usually really helpful. As for the steaks, you can just grill them. For the sides - if you really want to cheat - Birds Eye makes a really good creamed spinach frozen, and you can make the potatoes from the box (which my FI swears is soooooooo much better than homemade).

Good Luck!!!

Edited to say: I'm a slow typer - Suzanne beat me to it - plus her version sounds tastier!!!

Re: Romantic Dinner

I also have a great and simple recipe for seafood risotto...It has the seafood and rice you were looking for in your first post. You can make it in less than an hour and it is simple. Actually my friend's husband made it for her one night!!!!

Re: Romantic Dinner

Hi Karen, I don't really have a recipe I just throw it together. I'll try to explain...In a frying pan I put butter, wine, salt, pepper and breadcrumb (you can add a little italian seasoning)the breadcrumb adds a lot of flavor (I use a lot). I mix it all around and fry the shrimp in it (sprinkle some more bread crumbs)serve over rice pilaf and WALA!!!!!!!!
