Re: room block
only if u want to have all your guests stay in the same place, providing a shuttle for your guests to stay there (and not drink)... put some feelers out and see if this is even necessary...
60% of my guests are OOT so the room block was necessary for me.

ITA, try to find out with ur family if they'd like to stay in the same hotel so u can have an idea how many books to book for, then call hotels near ur venue, ask them if they can give u a good quote for x amount of people, usually hotels give good prices when u bring a lot of people

Necessary for me, too. Not only for OOT guests, but my friends all like to drink and not have to worry about driving. I think it is a nice courtesy to extend to your guests. Makes it seem like you thought about them.

Re: room block
You could block like 10 rooms, and if they don't use them, then it is fine!

Re: room block
I would definitely get a room block anyway because you never know who might want to stay in a hotel. Even people that live here may even want to stay in a hotel for the night.
Make sure that you are not going to be charged a fee for the rooms (most hotels I feel don't charge you for the block).
