RP from 06:: Wedding Gift?

If someone that you work with, not someone in your office but more like a business contact, buys you a wedding present off your registry, and they just got married themselves, would you buy them a gift off their registry also? Or would this look like you're just buying them a gift because they bought you a gift? I feel bad, someone bought a gift for us, and they just got married a few months back and their registry is pretty much wiped clean except for a few things.

What would you do?

Thanks for any advice!

Re: RP from 06:: Wedding Gift?

Hmm, I would probably reciprocate and send them a gift as well. If they don't have anything left on their registry then maybe get them one of those AMEX gift cards.

Re: RP from 06:: Wedding Gift?

I understand that you would want to get them a gift but I feel like since their wedding was a little while ago it would be obvious it was just a return gift. I think they got you something not expexting you to get them something. Probably wouldn't give a gift, just a nice thank you

Yeah I agree. It was nice of them to send you something but definitely not necessary and the fact that there's was a few months ago, it will look like you only sent it because they sent you something. That is what you'd be doing. I say just a nice personal thank you is fine!

Re: RP from 06:: Wedding Gift?

That's what I thought, I just feel bad that they bought us a gift. I plan on sending the thank you, but I feel like I should be doing more.

Re: RP from 06:: Wedding Gift?

i don't think you should give a gift for their wedding...it will look like a return gift. Send a thank you and maybe for the next holiday send them something (ie - a gourmet pie for Thanksgiving or a fruit basket for something else...have you seen edible arrangements?)
