I am attempting to make my own invitations. When should i request that the response cards come back? When is the time span. I am getting married in late september and i will be sending the invites out in May. What do you think a good date should be for the responses? Oh, and what do you think about second round invites (B list)? Thanks

How come you are sending them out so early?

Re: rsvp cards
We made our rsvp date 6 weeks before the wedding because we have to hand in our final head count about 2 weeks before the wedding date and we wanted to give ourselves enough time to invite B list if necessary and also to plan out seating and print up place cards.

Re: rsvp cards
Now that i think about it, it is kind of early. What do you suggest? Is the end of June okay? Not really to good on knowing this stuff. I am also wondering if anyone knows of a good printer to print custom designs. The invites are taking a lot of time and ink!

Re: rsvp cards
We sent our invites out about 12 weeks before our wedding and requested the RSVPs be returned 6 weeks before. We didn't do save the dates, which is why we went them so early. Also, it was a summer wedding and we wanted to make sure people had time to plan.
I've used Kinkos for general printing before and they do a decent job (they'll also help if they mess up stuff) but I don't know if I'd trust them with wedding invitations. I got ours through a store in Brooklyn called a Lion in the Sun in Park Slope. They were great to work with.

Re: rsvp cards
really double check how much money you will save by DYI projects like invites. sometimes they come out more expensive than just buying them from a store/online.
with that said, i am asking for a 8 week in advance rsvp date to make sure everyone is accounted for.
