I just started receiving RSVP's in the mail last week. Everything has been perfect until today when a relative decided to add 5 more additional guests!!! I almost threw up when I saw the number 7!!! I've always heard about this sort of thing happening but I never figured it would happen to me!!! Some people are so rude. This is the same relative who didn't even attend, respond, or even send a gift for my bridal shower!!! I am so stressed out about everything else and I don't know how to deal with this... With only 73 days until the wedding...I feel that I will have a breakdown soon. Is it normal to be this stressed out so close to the wedding?!

Re: RSVP RANT
That sucks to hear, but you have to be upfront with them and tell them that you cant have that many guests and the invitation was intended for that particular relative only. I'm pretty sure that relative will act like you've done the worst thing in the world but who cares? It's your wedding and you should have it your way. It gets stressful because a lot of things are going on as it gets closer but take time to breathe and enjoy

Re: RSVP RANT
Whoa! Where they hell did they find 5 extra people? Does she have 5 kids, or just decide to bring her own entourage?

Re: RSVP RANT
It's a long story. She has four kids plus some of their dates. These are relatives that I don't speak to and dates I don't know. For every other family event (all other weddings) they (kids) are never invited so I never imagined she would pull this. On top of that there is a family rift and I wasn't even expecting her to respond to my invite anyway. I am also worried that she may not even show up after we pay for them .

Re: RSVP RANT
Is this your mom or dad's sibling? Maybe they can speak to the person. That's really unacceptable. People are unbelievable!

Re: RSVP RANT
It's my mom's sister and shes angry at my mom and all her other sister's. Therefore having my mom speak to her is not an option. I will have to handle this one on my own.

Re: RSVP RANT
thats just ridiculous. you just have to tell her the invitation had only her name on it and therefore was only meant for her.
that is just unheard of!! geeze!!

Re: RSVP RANT
My advice is to tell her how excited you are that she is attending but unfortunately you can only accommodate the number of guests you included in the invite and that you are counting on her understanding as it means so much to you that she is attending. Etc. If she chooses not to come, well oh well.
This is unfortunate but take a deep breath.

Re: RSVP RANT
There is a family member that I am nervous about doing this as well. It's unacceptable, and I think you should tell her you do not have the space for the extras, and unfortunately you wanted to invite them, but there is not room. Blame it on reception hall maximums and tell her you are already over their max #. If she doesn't end up coming at the end of the day, well, that is less stress you have to deal with.

OMG I would so unleash my rage on them. Definitely talk to her and let her know she can't have her way and bring all these guests.

Re: RSVP RANT
Honestly I think your mom needs to contact her and address this. The invitation was made out to a specific person(s) and it's not ok to just assume you can add 5 additional people! Good luck with that! Whatever happens try not to stress bc at the end of the day it's your wedding and you need to enjoy it! Everything will work out! Best of luck!

Agreed! Definitely need to address it soon. I wonder if people have never been to a wedding before when they pull something like that! Adding 5 people?! Hoping she isn't doing it on purpose just to get you stressed out.

After you pay for them? I hope you are not referring to all 7 of those people!

Re: RSVP RANT
Sorry to hear that but I honestly would call the pwrson and ask who exactly are they bringing and tell them you weren't expecting all those people. Good luck

Re: RSVP RANT
What is wrong with people? Who in their right mind responds back with 7people. Did you address the invite to her specifically or did you address it to her & family? Because if you only addressed it to her I would call her immediately & explain it to her exactly that way.
