RSVP show rate?? Posted on BHB also

Hello,

What is a typical show rate for RSVP's?

We have to guarantee 200 (THAT'S no problem)...and our guest list has skyrocketed to about 310.

That being said, what is a typical show rate? I've read posts on here that said due to the economic crisis more people than ever are RSVP'ing 'no' than normal.

FH and I are saving our butts off and assuming everyone will show. I know we can do it financially, I'm just curious what percentages of 'yes' are typical.
Thanks Ladies!

I posted this equation on the '08 board and many brides said it was a pretty close ( but not completely accurate)

# of invited guest x .66 x 1.15 = number of expected guest

so :

310 x .66 = 204.6 x 1.15 = 234.6 expected guests.

Disclaimer: I found this on a random wedding site, prob not that accurate and likely does not take in to account OOT guests/ the economy and other misc issues.

I always say, be sure you can afford/ accommodate all guests on the crazy chance everyone says yes...despite this I am praying for dear life than several ppl say no lol

Good Luck!

Once i take out the people that I sent an invite to but I knew were going to say 'no' (the elderly, etc. that received courtesy invites), we had about a 30% no rate.

This equation, once I took out the courtesy invites, was still about 10 people too high. Perhaps that is just because we had a very small wedding so a few extra people saying no makes a big difference in the final percentage.

Honestly, I think it depends on how realistic your guest list is. I am only inviting 120 people and I had to guarantee 100, but of the 120 people that I am inviting I know that the only ones that will most likely not come are some of the OOT.

I think you have to divide your list into realistic categories.

i would be careful here. you'd be surprised how many people you thought were definitely going to come who say no.

its usually about 30% say no of what you invited

I told FH about the ratios and he swears we're only going to have 10% not show.

What are the chances he's right?

It's true -- we had 3 people RSVP 'no' at the last minute even though they would have been 'yes' but for a family death a few weeks before the wedding that caused some family issues. Then we had 2 people RSVP 'no' that we were sure would say yes because they were close friends, but they chose to plan a last-minute vacation instead of coming to our wedding (they decided to plan the vacation after receiving our STD, our invite, AND DH's phone call to follow up). We also had a close family friend of DH's side that RSVP'ed 'no' that was unexected, and 3 family members on my side that didn't come for no real reason. And then finally we had 2 friends RSVP 'no' because her due date was 3 days after our wedding, so of course they would have been there but they were perfectly reasonable in saying no!

I think it has to be dealt with seperatly on each side.

For instance, for my side of the family...it turning out that we may have 10% RSVPing no (so far)

For FH's side, which has more elderly's and more distant relatives, it is definitely more like 20%

but it is definitely possible to have 10% RSVP no. especially when they arent many elderly and not many OOT
