A few months ago, I posted about how I do not want my nephew at my wedding because he is the spawn of the devil....so I didn't invite my sister's kids even though my niece is an angel, and they responded that they are bringing both....they weren't on the invite...who does that? They are not the type to have done it out of spite, it's more that they are oblivious and probably didn't notice the invite....NOW what?! This kid WILL ruin my day, I can picture him screaming during the ceremony, just being an annoying little you know what...he doesn't listen to anyone, and is literally the Tasmanian devil wherever he goes, and always needs to be the center of attention. I can picture my sister screaming at him, dragging him out of the room and making a scene...and I have anxiety. Why oh why do you have to bring this animal?! How can I make him stay home without insulting them (because my sis and BIL are super sensitive about how people feel about this devil)? I was even going to pay him off to pretend he's sick but I know he'd rat me out....

If you're not having any other kids there I would just tell them that you are having an adult only wedding.

Someone called my kid a devil and animal... I would be pretty insulted. ESPECIALLY if it were my sister. So if anything- I would try to refrain from any of that.
The best way to do it is to have an adult only wedding.

My son is not the easiest to deal with and I wouldn't be jnsulted if someone told me not to bring him. I would be upset inside but I would understand unless she is in complete denial.

My nephew is very hyper and crazy but I will be having him as the ring bearer (hes two so by then he will be four and hopefully calm down) but I told my brother and SIL that the reception is an adult only party and to have him picked up (as well as the flowergirls) by a babysitter after the cocktail hour.

Yeah, the easiest way out of that situation is to have an adults only wedding. Call her and apologize but say that it's an adults only event and unfortunately that means that her children are not included. She should understand that!

I think this is completely reasonable. It's your wedding so you shouldn't have to worry about that at your wedding.

RSVP with kids I didn't invite....
We have notified our guest with children that this will be an adult event and no children not allowed. Also when we send out our RSVP's FH is prefilling those that think its not a big deal to bring children altjough we are tellin them in advance with just Mr. & Mrs. This is probably one of the things I like the least with the wedding planning. If I were you I would politely say that for your wedding, you will not be having any children there. I think she should be understanding of that and it will allow her some time for a sitter as well. Please keep us posted and just breathe.

First I would try it's an adult only wedding especially if they children are not a part of the wedding party, BUT if that doesn't work (which I can't imagine why it wouldn't) then I would say what Brittney22 said about having them picked up by a babysitter...
Although I wanted NO part of kids at my wedding, my step-daughter to be is a pretty intricate part and I'm not really close with my in laws so we decided to put their kids (pretty well behaved for the most part) in the wedding. From there we are going to run in to issues with my cousins kids. Some I wouldn't mind, others never going to happen so our rule that we will NOT bend is if you are not a member of the wedding party and you are under 21 then sorry you are not coming. We just told my sis-in-law that her 1 year old (not in the wedding and our god-son) cannot come to the wedding.
Make a rule and stick to it.. Definitely one of the hardest parts
Sorry this was so long-winded, hope it helps a little and definitely keep us updated. Good luck
edited for spelling

My sister and I have a pretty upfront relationship. I would basically just tell her that if he ruins my day, she and I wont be talking anymore. (It isn't true, she is seriously my best friend and I can't think of anything that we couldn't get over). But, my sister also doesn't get her feelings hurt easily, lol. I think that if you aren't doing adults only, you need to have a serious talk with your sister. If her kid is that bad, someone needs to inform her anyway.

I too would like to have an adults only reception FH has two cousins who have small children who live in another state. The only problem is I dont see them traveling toNY without their children and I know they will definitely attend. Do i mention something in advance or make an exception for them??Their parents will be in attendance too so kids staying with gparents isnt really an option

In your situation, I would probably write a little 'Adults Only Reception' on the bottom of your RSVP or Reception card (if you're having one). I've seen this done a few times before and that really gets the point across and couldn't be any less in their face lol. Then, if they contact you asking what should they do and they can't find accommodations for their kids, then maybe think about making an exception.

RSVP with kids I didn't invite....
My invites went out already and my RSVP due date was yesterday...I put mr & mrs so and so on their invite and they put mr and mrs so and so and devil child and non devil child on the RSVP card. I told her they will be the only kids, my fh's brothers kids are teenagers and older so I used that also....it's sad it has come to this, even my parents don't want the kids there because they won't be able to enjoy the night. He's THAT bad! Whenever anyone mentions how he acts, his parents get so offended and think he's just being a boy. Ugh!

Even prefilling the card they added the children!!!! Wow!!! My FH has one or two family members that he may have a problem with and he already told his parents, should anyone have any questions or problems to please give them his number and he will handle it. Try talking with them again and tell them they woul dreally like to keep this as an aduklt reception and if they could possibly find a sitter.
